I'm trying to gauge how many calories I should be eating in a day while doing Keto
I work a desk job but have started going to the job
Do I base it off being sedentary at work and then rely on the calories burned from exercise as extra?

yes, that's how MFP works.3 -
Calories will not change based on your diet type either, keto, paleo, FODMAP, calories will stay the same, macros will change.
A good place to start is 11 x your BW and track your weight. If it goes up, decrease, if it goes down more than 2 lb 2 weeks in a row, you can increase.0 -

MFP adds your exercise calories back in as you track, which would be the easiest way to do things.
I don't find that method works very well for me. I much prefer to eat a similar amount of food everyday, regardless of whether it is a workout day or not. So, I use some other calculators that do a daily average instead. My weekends I'm also on my feet all day, so I calculate those in, and just average it out over the week.
Makes it MUCH easier for me to plan meals and my stomach can get on a routine, too.0 -

Bingo, Amigo. I was really over-complicating things in 2017, complex calculations, macro obsession, etc. My weight yo-yo'd the entire year with no weight loss results and I decided to just get back to the basics of fitness in the new year and I've lost 13 lbs. Get back to the basics, use MFP the way it's designed and the OP should be alright.2 -

I agree....for the most part.
Although I used MFP primarily for tracking. TDEE less deficit worked better for me because I didn't care to always follow the day to day activity fluctuations. Picking the right activity level and using a regular calorie goal worked better for me. Both work fine, when used properly and neither are complicated.0
