NSV: I think my mom noticed I have some muscle

Not exactly a weight loss success, but I thought this was a funny story and relates to my fitness journey. My goals aren't just fitness, but like...American Ninja Warrior-level fitness, and I've come across a lot of people who don't really "get" goals like this, especially for (*GASP*) women. So actually, interactions like the following make me feel successful; regardless of their reactions other people can often see the changes in your body that you yourself can't.

I was visiting my parents. And it's really, really cold - too cold to run outside like I normally would. And I'm away from the gym, so I'm not doing my normal lifting routine. And I'm starting to just feel really blah from the drastic decrease in activity and the change to my normal eating habits. But then, I remembered: We are an evolved species! Evolved enough to have the internet, and to attach the internet to things like televisions! Amazing times. So I started doing about 45 minutes of kickboxing workouts with YouTube, and then some curls/rows/random stuff with some random 10 lb dumbbells my brother had lying around.

Usually my mom was at work while I did this, but this time she was home. And she comes out and sees me doing some curls with said dumbbells. And says "Oh! Be careful, you don't want to get too bulky for a girl." At that moment, my brother is walking by down the hallway and hears this. And he says

"Yeah, be careful. I remember that one time I curled 10 lbs and got HUGE." :D:D:D

I definitely could never have come up with such a perfect response on the fly.

Lol, I work a very physical job, and have the body to go with it. People still say things like, "oh, we need to ask one of the guys to move this when they come by, it's heavy" I take great delight in moving said object effortlessly, in such situations.

    Love the response!

Yeah, I still get people offering to help when I change the water bottle on the water cooler at work (except for my boss saying "Strong woman!") although part of it may be because I'm only 5 feet tall.

And I hate it when someone says to me "You don't want to..."
Translation: "I don't want you to..."
    Well, I DO want to...

Reminds me when my mom accused me of taking steroids when I bought my first tub of protein powder.

    Mom's gotta be vigilant

Did you throw down the tub in a fit of rage?
