So I am throwing my friend a baby shower in a couple of months and I have never thrown any kind of shower for anybody! I am trying to find some fun things and neat ideas and wondered what everybody's favorite part of their baby shower was?? It's jungle themed and so far I have a game that lists different animals, and the guests have to put what their babies are called. Not very much lol

A game i think is fun is to have different jars of baby food and you have to guess what they are. Meats and veggies are the best lol. Also there is guess how many square of toilet paper it would take to go around the pregnant momma's belly. That's always fun.0

I didn't have a shower by personal choice but I have been to several fun ones
How about guess the size of the mother-to-be? Using toilet paper, guess how many squares of toilet paper it would take to wrap around the momma's belly!0 -
try to guess how big the mom is around her belly with toilet paper and clothes pin's on a metal clothes hanger with one hand those are my 2 favorite! also google good games for baby shower0

OK so I agree with the above and also you can have them name things for a baby All the way through the alphabet....
A... apple sauce
B... Blanket
C... Crib.... and so on and so on.0 -
Play a little game to guess the sex / weight / date the baby will be born. xx0

This is nasty...but so funny: Get differant kinds of candy bars and put them in the microwave for 5-10 seconds than put them in differant diapers. Make sure you write like 1,2,3 on each diaper and what kind of candy bar you put in each diaper and the guest has to try by smelling, looking, and TASTING each to guess what kind of candy bar is inside the diaper. (It looks so much like baby poo, it makes it fun and lots of laughs) Have fun!0

One of my favorites.....get 6-10 diapers and put mashed up candy bars in them. Close them up and label each with a # and then give everyone a ballot sheet to guess whats in each one. If you want them to be really difficult put a few of them in the microwave for a few seconds!0

I like to get note cards and pass them out to all the guests for them to write their words of wisdom to the mother.0

Have your drunk sister come and grope everyones boobs. Thats what happened at mine LOL.0

We played a diaper doody game.
The hostess took different flavored candy bars and melted them into premie sized diapers. ( a few seconds in the microwave) Then she marked the outside of the diaper with a number for identification purposes and had a master list of what was in each diaper.
Guests passed them around the room and everyone had to guess WHAT each doody was.
We had people sniffing them, tasting them, etc. but it really does look like gross diaper deposits if you put a couple fun-size bars in each diaper.
Whoever had the most correct won a prize, and I think we did first second and third place grabs bags... LOL
Another game is to interview the mother and father to-be separately and ask them questions like whose sense of humor do you want the baby to have, Whose eyes, Whose nose, whose feet, whose hair, etc. (Stay away from the which gender one that can cause a fight) then have the guests guess for the mom's answers and have the MOM guess for the father's answers. Whoever gets the most correct gets a prize.
There are lots of fun little games like that HAVE FUN and good luck with it all!0 -
At one of my showers they squished different kinds of candy bars into different diapers and you have to guess which kind of candy bar is in which diaper(by smelling, tasting, etc). You could also have juice in baby bottles and see who can drink it the fastest. Also, you could fill a baby bottle full of jellybeans or anyother small candy and have everyone guess how many peices of candy are in the bottle(u would have to know of course). You could google baby shower games and I'm sure you could come up with a ton of fun things to do!0

I went to a fun one a few months ago. When we first arrived, we had a clothes pin attached to our shirts. We were not allowed to say "baby" or "cute" and if someone caught us saying those words, they could take our pin from us. The goal was to have one person have the most pins! I lost mine like the minute we started... I'm a talker!! I almost earned one back, but the girl caught herself!!!
Also, gift bingo is fun. Make up bingo square papers and everyone has a few minutes to guess what the gifts will be and fill in the boxes. Then as the Mom opens the gifts, you cross off the squares. The first one to get a "bingo" wins. And if you know what the baby's name will be already, another fun game is to have the guests use the letters of the name to make as many 3+ letter words as possible from those letters. I won that one!!!!
I love showers... have fun!0 -
I haven't seen the game where you take the mom and the dad's names and then see how many names you can come up with from those letters, excluding parents names of course, in an alloted time period.0

How big around mom is - but to go with the jungle theme, use green twine.
Baby diaper pins for each guest - Can't say the baby name (if you know what it's going to be) for the shower. Anyone caught saying the name has to give up the pin to the person who caught them. The person with the most pins at the end (or predermined time) wins.
Write down what Mom says when opening gifts - make up a story from the night of conception using the words she said. Examples: Oh it's so cute and small. It's exactly what I needed. How does this work? etc.0 -
Have your drunk sister come and grope everyones boobs. Thats what happened at mine LOL.
HA! HA!! That sounds exactly like what happens at most of my family functions!!! Except its my sister-in-law!! My drunk mother-in-law likes to talk to everyone in detail about her bowel movements! Gotta love the in-laws!0 -
I have been to and had a few in my day.
I would suggest a game where you make baby names with in the designated time from the parents first names. Most wins.
another was name all the baby items you can in a set amount of time. Can be out loud with someone keeping track and the person who does most wins or you can score by crossing off all the like ones and the person who has more not used is the winner.
We have played a game where you toss" binkys" or pacifiers made of rubber in to a hoop across the floor. They bounce don't
you know.lol.
You also could have a rattle or a pacifier clip to pass to the person saying a word say "baby" each time hear the present holder say it.
As for the theme..a stuffed animal would work well for that one.
At the showers I enjoy the party prizes are baby items to be given the moms. I always thought that was cool. The last few years the guests have gotten something to keep but in my honest opinion that is not what the fun is all about and the baby gift is so fun to unwrap.lol.
Most of all enjoy the day.0 -
I am throwing my SIL a baby shower next month.
I am playing a hilarious and DISGUSTING game. The dirty diaper game.
I am using 6 diapers but use however many you want. I get different small candy bars and melt them in the diaper so it looks like poo (GROSS!!!!) Each person has to smell, taste or whatever in order to identify the candy. This time I am also adding in a grainy mustard one. The best part is seeing peoples reaction when they do this. It is totally gross but so much fun and a great ice breaker.
Once guests are in, I have everyone introduce themselves and tell how they know the mom to be. If you have more than 1 game to play, I would paly one after the introductions. Eat. Another game if you have it. Gifts. Another game. And finally cake. I am not doing favors for this shower but I am doing a prize for the person who wins the diaper game. Just something small and inexpensive. I am making a diaper cake as decoration and gift and am also making a diaper wreath to hang on the door (you can find instructions online for both of these items.) They are always a hit.
Ours is being held from 1-3 so the food will be some what heavy since it is around lunch. I am serving the following:
Chicken salad sandwiches
Fruit
Veggie tray
Cheese and cracker tray
Mints/ nus
Pink punch
Pink cupcakes
Baby showers can be as extravagant and you want but I like them to be simple (for me!!!) and intimate and fun (hence the gross game!) Feel free to message me with any questions. I've done tons of baby and wedding showers and for the most part, they are pretty easy.0 -
When I threw a baby shower for my sister in law, I found a game that turned out to be pretty fun! I'm not the best at explaining things..but here goes.
The object of the game was to have the player hang a basket of clothes on a clothesline, all while holding a cordless phone and holding a child on thier hip. Haha, needless to say, it got pretty competitive between generations of moms and grandmothers!
Before hand I just got a rope to use as a clothesline and during the game had different girls take turns holding the rope on each side in an open place at the party. Before hand I gathered a clothes basket with clothes in it, clothes pins, a cordless phone, and some way of keeping time...a stop watch or clock. During the game I designated my own child as the one to hold. (he was 1 1/2 at the time, and this might be the only thing hard to do if the party isn't going to have children there.)
We had tons of fun with this game.0 -
I went to one where a baby item was inside a closed paper bag-like a lunch bag. The item got passed around and everyone got a chance to feel it, shake it, hold it, etc. trying to guess what it is. They wrote their answer down on a piece of paper and about 20 or so items got passed around. Whoever had the most correct won. Items were...diaper, washcloth, nail clipper, shampoo, pacifier, etc.0

We did the chocolate in a diaper thing too-also put juice in baby bottles and had contest who could chug it down fastest. Safety pins in a bowl of rice-had to guess how many then pick them out without looking.0

See who can make the most words using the letters in the baby's name.0

When I threw showers for two of my closest friends years ago I played this game. Everyone at first thought it was nasty but then they ended up really getting into it and loving it.
Me personally, I HATE showers and I know I am not alone. My only advice is to not drag them out any more than they have to be. Stick to one or two games and that is it. I once was at a bridal shower that lasted over 4 hours because they insisted on playing 5 games. It was pure torture!! Also, make sure you have yummy food. Nothing worse than being trapped in a room for hours and starving, haha :-)
**PS: I got a lot of complements on my decorations because I actually made them functional. I tied balloons to baby food instead of cheesy weights. I also on other table took cheap glass bowls and put the sparkly easter grass in the bottom and cute ribbon tied around the top edge and put little baby items like pacifiers, rubber duckies, baby shoes, etc in them so that at the end the mommy got to take it all home and I didn't waste my money on stuff that was just going to get thrown away0 -

I LOVE baby showers! I've thrown a few and one thing everyone really seemed to like is to have each guest bring a picture of themselves as a baby. I also had the mom and dad's baby pics mounted near the cake (sort of like a bridal shower). I chose 8 plates at random and put a baby sticker on the bottom. Who ever got a sticker got a prize. We did the names for the baby animals (FYI don't use a praying mantis; no body got that one  ) Showers I've been to we did the chocolate diaper thing, the guess the baby food by smell; the close pin can't say "baby" ; Can't cross your legs or you lose a pin, guess the mom's size with crepe paper; have each guest write out their prediction for baby's arrival and birth stats; "wisdom" for the mom (cute idea) each guest writes a bit of parental wisdom for the mom to be on a piece of card stock and it's placed in a bag for her to read later. I'm sure I've seen more but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.0

I was gonna say that! haha. we did that at mine.0 -

That was the BEST at my sister-in-laws show!! It had EVERYONE laughing! AND you get the best pictures with everybody sniffing diapers.0 -

Pinned a tiny cloth diaper to each person and one was "dirty" inside and that person got a prize at the end of the day....kinda the same as the random plate thing but with a bit more of a baby twist. Also match the baby and momma's names together on paper (ie kangaroo, joey...cat, kitten....frog, tadpole...etc)0
