When you exercise, do you eat all of these extra calories as well, or just what you feel is necessary. I don't feel 1280/day is very much, so I definately eat all my extra exercise calories, thoughts...

I make sure that I am NETTING 1200 calories a day, so I eat back enough of my exercise calories to reach that. I find that for me if I even just net 1200 calories a day for too long I stop losing, so I need to up my net to 1500 for a couple days or a week and then I drop weight again. Rinse and repeat because then I stop losing at the higher net.

Edit: it also depends on if you're using a HRM (heart rate monitor) or not. If you're using a HRM then your calories burned are much more accurate than MFPs estimator.

I just read this link (make sure you click on "how about now?"

    Lots of good info! :flowerforyou:
  • Myfitnesspal tends to extremely overestimate the calories I burn as I'm very heavy, so I don't eat them all - I sometimes have an extra 200-400 depending on how much exercise I've done (200 if I've done an hour or so, up to 400 if I've done over 2 hours).

I don't. As the extra calories are estimated and for me seems like a lot of food. Occasionally, I do however, go over my daily calorie intake and the extra cals from exercise makes it all the better-- mentally if nothing else. If you feel that your daily intake is not enough-- consider what your eating and what your goal is... you may want to make some adjustments on both ends. Hope this helps! Good luck ;0)

I asked the same question this morning & was told by many you can choose to eat some back but NEVER go UNDER 1200 calories a day. Your body will start to burn MUSCLE instead of FAT.

i only eat them all, if im hungry, if im not, i dont eat them. simple as that.
  • Well for me I never eat back my calories because sometimes you do more harm than good, find out how many calories your organs need to function and that should be your daily intake even with exercise. Usually try not to eat more carbs then what I want to weigh and I strength train with my cardio of 30 to 45 mins including my warm-up and cool-down.

Good luck and just keep a log of food and exercise.

I completely agree. Tthis morning, I burned 662 according to the stepper at my gym, and when I plugged into this site, it gave a result of 889 (I adjusted it back to the 662). When I remember to use my HRM, its usually higher than the worn out equipment at the gym, but better to err on the safe side, right?
