G'day! My name is Nat. I'm 35 and sick of dieting, shakes, ketosis, missing out because "my diet doesn't allow for that", self-sabotage, disappointments, guilt and every other thing I have done and felt for the past 20 years. I want BALANCE and MODERATION. Healthy eating - good wholesome foods, and walking for 30 minutes after work. I want to learn how to eat healthily so I can maintain a healthy weight. That's where I'm at today. I have 21.3kg to lose. I am a realist, so I will not beat myself up if I have a chocolate or a piece of raisin toast with butter (I'm going for 90/10), and I will celebrate my victories and I will do the best I can every day. I quit smoking last year, so I know I can do this.

So I'm happy to chat, share recipes, hints tips and tricks. Tell me your story.

90/10 is what? If you read the success stories and see people lost 100 lb in a year you can do math and figure 21.3 kg is going to take about 5 months. It isn't like that. You'll lose weight more quickly at the beginning of this journey than you will near the target. In fact, as you get nearer the target, it gets harder and more frustrating. Stay patient, realistic, and persistent. You're a woman and will have water gain for ovulation and mense. You'll lose some weight and do some new exercise and have water retention from muscle soreness. You'll have 1 slice of 300 calorie pizza for dinner, staying perfectly within your calorie budget and gain 2 lb. It's water. Don't sweat it. Or rather, go ahead and sweat it literally. Enjoy the good foods, share the successes, and get used to the rest of your life.

Thanks guys! 90/10 is basically behaving (eating & exercising well) 90% of the time. No stress Jerome, I'm aiming for progress, not perfection. I don't really have a time on it, but I just want to continue to feel better and be happy. I understand that weight fluctuates so I will weigh in weekly and measure monthly but also take note of my clothes. I've been doing this since the 19th of Feb and already lost 5.6kg. As I start to plateau, I will adjust my diet and exercise (maybe reduce carb intake and/or increase exercise) but not to a point where I feel like I'm sacrificing. Thanks for the tips Jerome.

Hi Nat, I'm also 35 in England. I agree totally with everything you say and your approach sounds so sensible for achievable consistent results. No restrictions as it just makes me crave things. Moderation is definitely key. I'm pretty much doing the same thing here but as 80/20 ha ha!! After a few false starts I am now feeling very motivated. Well done quitting smoking, wine is my vice and hindering my results so that has either got to go or very much reduce lol! Be great to keep in touch for some support and motivation. I also enjoy walking, try to do a 3 mile walk in my lunch breaks most days. I actually have 46kg to lose to be healthy weight, but I am aiming for a 33 kg loss by the end of the year, which is a healthy 2 Ib per week. Best of luck, we can do this the healthy way! :):)
