I've been vegan for a little over a year now, and in the last 6 months I have put on 38 lbs from eating a poor vegan diet. I just started HCLF a few days ago and I feel good so far. Just curious if anybody else has done HCLF and if so what results you had from doing it?

Yeah I track and stay within my calories and try my best to stay within my allotted macros daily. I definitely don't buy that "eat as much as you want" hype. I've had success being HCLF for the last 8 days so I plan to continue it. I feel good, never feel hungry, and I'm down 9lbs.

All the healthy and fit vegans I knew during my three years at yoga retreat centers ate essentially HCLF. They limited nuts and rarely ate accidentally vegan junk foods like Oreos.

I'm not a vegan, but I eat fairly high carbs (+/- 60%) and fairly low fat (+/- 15%). It works well for me because that's how I prefer to eat. Lost 65-70 pounds.

What's HCLF? I follow WFPB and Dr Fuhrman Eat To Live.

High Carb Low Fat was the diet up until Atkins/keto gained a foothold. HCLF is still the general medical recommendation for certain definitions of "high" and "low".

HCLF works for the same reason all diets work: when you consume fewer calories than your body uses, you lose weight. Fat has more than 2 times the calories of carbs so you get more bang for your buck when you cut them. If fat isn't satiating for you, that's a big plus for that way of eating.

Where I ran into problems is that I kept my fat too low during the losing years of yo-yo dieting and that messed up my hormones, gallbladder, and fat-soluble vitamin absorption. Tracking intake with MFP has helped me make sure that I get at least enough protein, fat, and fiber.
