Really?

So I often hit the forums looking for inspiration, motivation and what not. But from time to time I find people that look amazing, but when I read their food diaries and see what they eat I am shocked?? I think that I eat fairly decent, I am by no means perfect but I try to watch what I eat. I try to eat foods high in protein, watch my sweets and drink my water. But after reading their diaries and seeing something like 1/2 chicken breast for dinner and thats it, I start thinking......Really?? 1/2 chicken breast??? Is that supposed to be filling? I mean thats not the only thing that shocked me. It was like her whole diary was like that. I thought the whole purpose was NOT to starve yourself. I hardly see any motivation from that. It just discourages me because I want to do what it takes to become a better me but seeing that just doesnt seem right...... Guess thats why I havent met my goal yet.
Am I the only one that thinks like this?

It depends on the size of chicken breast, I find its alot easier to graze so your meals seem to be alot smaller.
Unless they are doing something like slimming world and the veg or whatever they are eating with the chicken is 'free' ?0 -
That's how some people get there, that's not for me. There's too much good food- and I'm not talking good as in junk- to eat that is satisfying and tasty and gets me to a healthy body comp without starving. That seems like a miserable way to live, I'm in it to prove you don't have to be miserable and starving to look healthy.0

I survive on 3 grapes a day. 2 if I need to drop a dress size fast! :laugh:0

You gotta do what is right for YOU. Maybe this person is trying extra hard, or maybe this is the way he or she enjoys eating. I used to eat less than 800 calories a day and was never hungry, I got used to it and it was satisfying to me. I'd concentrate on what you can do for yourself and not let other people's diaries bother you.0

I'm always a little disappointed to find someone whose weight loss has given me inspiration and hope is doing it in a very unhealthy fashion (starving themselves with too little food or too much exercise without eating anything back...)....
I do this: :noway: :frown:0 -

hahah!! Thanks for the laugh.....needed it!0 -
Yea - that's depressing. You're not the only one who thinks like that. Weight loss is not a race, and it's not a "project." You are right to learn good healthy eating habits - this is how permanent weight loss is achieved.
Some people are looking for shortcuts - plenty of people here are looking to make lifestyle changes.0 -
When I eat like that I will lose weight, but for me it is not very sustainable. I think it's important to lose weight slowly, and treat yourself sometimes!0

It depends on the size of the breast. There are really some large breasts out there.... and in that case a 1/2 of a breast is more than filling.
Even if you look at someone else's diary, remember that you are viewing their lifestyle, not yours. If you choose to remove sweets from your diet, don't condemn someone else who doesn't. We are all different. Keep doing what works for you!0 -

I agree with you....I need to stop comparing myself to others since everyone has different goals. Thanks!0 -
I have seen those who eat nothing but protein shakes and bars with little veggies and those who eat really, really well. I am only motivated by those who understand how to get in a healthy diet and I really don't look at the other ones anymore. Surround yourself with those who inspire you and forget the rest. I know a gal personally who is super thin, but she drinks about a gallon of coffee everyday to supress her hunger. She's not a happy person. Do what you know is healthy and you will be much happier for it! Best wishes!! )
BTW...I never starve myself but I don't always make the best food choices. That's why I'm here. )0 -

That's just what some people do. I certainly wouldn't allow that to demotivate me. There are plenty who have gotten to their goal by eating (a lot, by my standards) or eating moderately. Try to ignore the diaries that eat super low cal all of the time, if it bothers you.0

I tend to mix it up, some days I can be really good, others like today quite bad. If I do have a bad day I exercise alot to burn it off.
Like everyone is saying you have to do what works for you.
Sometimes I wish I could be more disapined but I know if I was regimental with myself I would throw in the towel.0 -
I think a lot of people on here don't keep track of everything they eat. I do because I want to know if I go over by 1000 (yesterday *sigh*) and then I have to see that when I review and it holds me accountable. If I don't lose weight this week then everyone will know why! And that's fine. Others may just list the bare minimums because they don't want others to know what they're eating or they may not be completely honest with themselves. If that's how they want to use mfp then *shrug*. People overestimate exercise and underestimate calories. That's just human nature
But no, I doubt that most people on here are only eating 700 calories a day unless they're TRYING to starve themselves.0 -
Pft. Those people may just be the kind that don't want to log what they actually ate.
Stay strong! I did it and I eat! A lot sometimes!0 -

HAHAHA!!! I love it!0 -
It's definitely frustrating seeing some people who hardly eat anything, but there are also people who are doing the exact things I am, who are losing weight much quicker than I. It doesn't matter what rules you have for yourself, your body is yours and nobody else's therefore, it's not going to react the same. Keep it up!0

maybe it was just an off couple of days for them?0

I ate a pint of Ben and Jerry's Peach Cobbler ice cream for lunch yesterday. It's 880 calories and 104 grams of sugar. Am I doing it right?0
