Hi there ,
I’m completely new to this but I am currently 211 pounds with a overall goal of reaching 130. I plan on exercising and hour day in a boot camp.
My question is this ..based on that information and my activity level as being “active” on the app it says I need 1600 cal a day? Does that seem correct ,

If that is what MFP set you at and you were honest about your activity level and everything else, yes, it should be correct.0

Thanks . Is there a description somewhere that you can find what they actually mean with the different activity levels like what is active versus very active etc.0

The app gives you the description in the options that you select - I don't know why you can't see it. Not Very Active says "Spend most of the day sitting(e.g. bank teller, desk job) so when you go through the activity selection, it gives you the description.0

Your activity level setting is for how much you move separately from exercise. I have a desk job and don’t move much (fewer than 3,000 a day), so I’m set to Not Very Active. That gives me my base calorie level. I also exercise vigorously every day, which I add into my diary, and that gives me extra calories.2

My Fitness Pal gives you a calorie goal before exercise. MFP's goal is also based on "I want to lose xx pounds per week." When you do exercise (in MFP) you are expected to log exercise & eat a portion of those calories back.
A TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) gives you your maintenance including exercise: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
If you know your exercise will be consistent use TDEE less a %. Both methods work, both are estimates.0 -
