Probably doesn't matter, but unless you have a deficiency you probably don't need vitamins anyway.

I take a multi every morning. Maybe overkill but I have a hunch they help me resist cold viruses. I don't think "when" is a factor.

I take mine at night after dinner because they sometimes upset my stomach. It comes down to preference

Time of day doesn't matter but some vitamins go better with others and some can only be taken in by the body in small doses.

Vitamin D is better absorbed in small amounts several times a day. Vitamin D, A, and Calcium work together. That is why our milk is fortified with A and D.

Iron is better absorbed when NOT taking Calcium, and is better absorbed with a little Vitamin C.

These are the ones I know.

ETA: Yep, I misunderstood the question . When I used to take a multi I took with a meal. I don't think timing matters, unless you are taking a large dose of a single vitamin or mineral as per a doctor's orders.

I take mine right before bed, mainly because in the past some hurt my stomach.
