Losing fat, gaining muscle

Can people share their workout plans or direct me to where there’s a thread about them! I’m trying to go to the gym again but find myself going to the same routine every time instead of mixing it up. So if you’re trying to lose fat and tone up I’d love to hear how long you spend and what you do during the gym! Thanks

Losing fat and gaining muscle is a different concept to losing fat and "toning up".
Sticking to a calorie deficit, following a progressive lifting program (there's a thread on those - try the gaining weight/bodybuilding stickies) and eating sufficient protein will help you maintain muscle as you lose weight/fat and the end result will be you looking more toned due to uncovering the muscle you have.
Losing fat and gaining muscle is a long, slow process. It's a recomp (there's a thread on those too), where you'll eat at maintenance, train as above, and slowly lose fat as you slowly gain muscle.1 -
It sounds like you are looking to recomp, so lose fat and gain some muscle over time. You definitely want to find a progressive lifting program, the links below should help you out

I think you misunderstood me and looked more at terminology. Simply trying to lose weight without losing muscle that I have and without resulting in ‘flappiness’ as I’ve seen many lose weight but as they haven’t been doing the right exercises end up with saggy skin, simply want to avoid that.
I have my routine in the gym and I’m just curious of what others trying to achieve the same goal do when at the gym. Just to shake things up a little bit so I’m not doing the same thing over and over.
Just some human insight0 -
OP do you have weight to lose (are you overweight) or are you at a good weight for your height and want to maintain your weight but change your body composition? That will change the plan of action a bit in terms of calorie intake0

No, I just understand the difference between maintaining muscle and gaining muscle. If you want to lose weight and end up looking more defined (not just a smaller version of your current self), you need a deficit and a progressive lifting program like in the links provided. Pick the one that looks good to you - it's not likely to be "mixed up" though! Training doesn't have to be new, or complicated, to be effective2 -

And for reference I followed a program (Strong Curves by Bret Contreras) while losing weight to maintain muscle and while I gained weight to put on muscle.. it isn't about mixing things up, but progress over time and consistency.0
