Great pair of shoes needed!

I need new shoes, something to help me feel better. I want a good cross-trainer type for lots of jumping and things.
I have arch problems and frequently the backs of my heels get blistered so bad they bleed while I workout even through moleskins.
what is everybody else wearing?

Get fitted!!!! I keep buying these name brand expensive shoes to run/workout in and I always end up with blisters or just other problems associated with the shoes that I buy. I asked a friend (he runs marathons) and he said it is VERY important to get fitted for the right shoe as everyone has a different fit! A lot of shoe stores will personally fit you and find the right type for your feet-I plan on doing this tomorrow as I need some shoes that I can workout in.0

I have a great pair of running shoes that I got fitted for. I think some run shops will do cross trainer fittings as well. It is free and the best thing I have ever done as far as shoes go!0

Everyone is built differently so it's hard to go off others. I can wear Saucony but can't wear New Balance.
I'd recommend going to a reputable running store and taking your old shoes with you. They'll analyze your old shoes then watch you walk or jog. After they'll show you which ones best support your movement and body. You may pay for more for the shoes but, it's worth it. Afterwards you know what is best for you so you can buy them elsewhere later.0 -
I live and die by New Balance cross training shoes. They are the best that I've found for my feet, knees and back. I get them at Off Broadway Shoes and always pay less than retain.

I have just bought a pair of Adidas running shoes, the difference is amazing, my ankles are alot less painful and it is easier to run in them. I got mine for £15 on the Adidas website clearance sale as one of the chaps who work in the gym said that he spends less then £20 on running trainers!!0

I agree. The best shoes I ever had was when I went to an athletic shoe store and had them advise what was best for high arches high instep and wide feet.0 -
Can you get fitted at a ****s sporting goods store?0

i run in nike free's, i can't walk in them the arches bug my feet but for some reason i do great running in them. But I'm a nut and would love to just be barefoot all the time so i agree with everyone else, go get fitted if you think you'll have special needs for arches or ankles knees etc.0

I wouldn't trust them if you could. I'd go to a store that specialized in running. I know you're looking for cross trainers but running shoes actually have better support built in for other use as well. Specialty stores are trained to do this where big box stores aren't trained as specifically.0 -

This is exactly right! Go get fitted, let them do a gait analysis (watch you walk, jog etc). Taking your old shoes with you is a must...the store people really appreciate that, seriously.
I will never buy new running shoes without being fitted each time. AND IN MY EXPERIENCE YOU CAN NOT BE PROPERLY FITTED AT A SPORTING GOODS STORE. At a running store the people are athletes and are trained in the gait analysis. Go to a running store, even though you are looking for cross trainers, they will help you so much!
Here is a link to a store in Huntsville.

I just bought my first pair of real gym shoes today. I had been using a pair from target (blegh) and they had NO support and gave me blisters and sqished my pinky toe. I have also rolled my ankle due to lack of motion control in the shoe. But seriously, what can you expect for 19.99?
I just bought these: http://www.shopnewbalance.com/detail.asp?type=WMFT&style=WR1012MC&filterSize=9&filterWidth=D
Plain and simple, do NOT skimp on your shoes! It can make working out horrible, to tremendous...0 -
P.S. I have to mention how much I love that MFP bleeps out D!(K's sporting goods due to the "profane" name0
