Keto and Weight Watchers

Hello Keto Community! Does anyone also track their Keto daily eating into Weight Watchers points? I know that seems crazy to be eating and looking at two food plans. I watched a few You Tube videos where people eating Keto also tracked to make sure they also stayed within their points. I love how I feel eating keto and like how it keeps me accountable to staying within my carbs. I seem to fall short on the protein and fats though. I am curious to know if I eat keto how my WW points look for about a week. I have lost on Weight Watchers but am no longer eating what is not a lower on Keto. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Points is pretty much a roundabout way of tracking calories, so it seems like alot of extra work for some redundant information.

If you are low on fat, proteins, and carbs then you must be eating below your calorie goal. If that doesn't appear to be the case then make sure you are using correct entries, something is not adding up correctly.

Since you seem to be worried about your macros it would see like MFP would be a better tool, counting points doe not easily tell you your macro intake does it?

I think that's not a great idea--WW's current plan is really emphasizing low-fat and low-carb, and keto is high-fat and low-carb. You'd easily blow all your points on avocado and cheese!

Yeah, I think your caloric intake would be dangerously low, as WW penalizes fat intake fairly significantly in their last two programs.

If you are concerned about caloric intake (and not exceeding what you need), you'd be better off to use MFP and keto. You can even upgrade to premium, if you'd like to pay for something as a from of motivation. Plus, it's easier to track macros (IME) with premium MFP.

Thank you for that. I appreciate your reply very much. I do have the MFP app with my calories set at 1300. I did the worksheet from Keto Connect that have me eating 20g of Carbs a day (5%), my Protein (20%) and Fats (75%). A lot of You Tube videos say when starting out to keep the carbs at 20g/day and definitely not go over 30g, then focus in on the macros more in depth later. I do feel that purchasing the Premium MFP would be worth it as I am serious to lose 50 pounds, but stay in this lifestyle. I feel so good on Keto, I hope to see the weight come off as well.

It probably is more work than I should be doing. I am using an older WW version to try staying within 24 points a day. I think I am fine with keeping within 20g of carbs a day but not go over 30g. I still fall short on protein but getting closer to my fat %. I am loving the eggs with shredded cheese, bacon, avocados, olives, olive oil, coconut oil, grilled chicken, 5-7 cups of greens and some sautéed veges. I guess I am not comfortable with a high caloric intake. I set mine at 1300/day and do cardio 1 hour every other day to allow for recovery. This is new to me, so changing old ways of losing weight are tough. I love how I feel since eating Keto and am willing to tweak what I am doing incorrectly as I need to for weight loss and importantly overall healthy living for the long haul. One example is the day after Easter, the carbs I ate were potato salad and a small slice of my Brothers birthday cake and the next day I felt awful with a terrible headache. As always, I would appreciate any thoughts and suggestions. Thank you for replying.

I do a little over 1300 a day but exercise a lot and have had no trouble staying within that limit on keto. My diary is open. I did WW for years, though, and am pretty sure my breakfast alone would be 12 points with all the fat. It just seems confusing to do both.

I would think you would have to choose. My boyfriend was die hard Keto and I was doing WW and we ate nothing the same. Everything conflicted -

It sounds like you are not hitting your goals with tracking macros, so you want to start tracking points that will validate your undereating?

Fats, even healthy ones are SUPER high in points, I don’t see how one could make them “fit” into their dailies without compromising somewhere else, I wouldn’t mix them :#

After a 3.8 pound weight gain in 4 weeks and realizing my kidneys are holding on to water, I am just going to keep it simple and go back to tracking weight watcher points. It has worked for me without any issues so being healthy is what I need to do. Thank you for responding.
