edited November 26 in Goal: Maintaining Weight
I got up my usual time and weighted in my usual way after the bathroom and no clothes. Then I laid back down for a few more winks well I woke up three hours later and just for the heck of it weighed myself again ( no bathroom break) and I was 2 pounds lighter. This also happened a few weeks ago when I got 3 hours later than my usual time. I would love to say I broke into the 120's a number I haven't seen since grade school.

I'm trying to maintain although thought about cutting back some this month to prepare for the month of May due to many milestone celebrations so if I "gain" a few pounds back in May I won't feel so bad.

So which number do you think is correct?

Pam

    Either, neither or both.

    Have you calibrated your scales?
If you hop on and off several times within a few minutes are they consistently the same?
Did you sweat heavily in the three hours between your two weigh ins?

    Go on then say it!

I just slept no exercising at all. Yes the numbers stayed the same. I even got a gallon of paint held it while weighing myself put the paint down weighed myself again and it was the same number without the paint so the scale is right. I’m just going to go with my usual weigh in time number

Your weight isn't one number, it is continually fluctuating. They are all correct at the moment you weigh. [/quot
    Thanks

well to that ill just say, Did you know when you lose weight the majority of it is breathed out? Im not saying you lose 2 pounds in 3 hours im just making a point that your body is a complex system and alot of different things can fluctuate you, Its not all down to just putting food in and expelling that food later

This happens to me. What I do is get on and off the scale and check it and see which one comes up in a row. That is the one that I pick. This morning it happened but the higher number seemed to be more consistent so I went with that.

I always weigh considerably less if I go back to sleep and weigh later in the morning. I can't always do this just because I'm generally an early riser by nature. But I try to make Sunday my "official" weigh day because I usually sleep later and weigh less on Sunday.

Not only that, #2 is not #2. :) A lot of food liquifies completely or nearly so.

Same thing happens to me - days I sleep in, I definitely weigh noticeably less than on days when I'm up right at the 8 hour mark. Enjoy the lower weight :)

Obviously the second one is the "correct" one, for the day. ;)

Lately I've noticed a strange phenomenon like this. I'll wake up in the morning looking super lean (I know this is normal) and then about an hour later (not eating or drinking anything) I'm back to looking puffy. It's like all the water weight redistributed just by moving around.

    A. Pick the Weight that was taken under the same conditions as when you usually weigh.
    B. Pick the lowest one.

Hmmm, I'm the opposite, wake up all puffy, then it goes away and i look lean. Go figure.

Take a lower number, of course!

Thanks everyone. On Monday when I did my daily weigh in at my normal time it was the lower weight. Today back to the higher weight although I know the reason for that had a ceasar salad for dinner which had a lot of salt. I'm getting better at not letting the bounces bother me.

I need to get better at this. I am uber protective of the weight loss and afraid of repeating old failure behavior. Intellectually, I know it is fine if I suddenly see a 3 pound jump and there is now way it could possibly be anything but water but it freaks me out.

Body weight isn't static...your maintenance weight is a range, not a particular number.

Yup my regular weigh in is on a weekend day for me for exactly that reason. I always weigh less when I sleep longer. I live in a fairly dry climate so my thoughts are just resperation causing water loss although I often get up to use the washroom too.
