I just started! Does this app work? I mean if I stick to the daily calories will I lose weight no matter what I eat?

Yes, so long as you're tracking properly (using a food scale, using correct database entries, being honest with your logging).

Yes, as long as you are weighing your food correctly on a scale, and being fairly accurate. If you burn more calores than you take in, you will definitely lose weight. The MFP number are an estimate, and some people have various hormonal, medicinal or health issues that cause you to burn calories at a higher or lower rate, but generally the MFP numbers are fine.
It does work even better however, if you incorporate more lower calorie, and satisfying but higer nutrition foods, than empty calorie treats and chips. You would still lose weight with the "junk" foods, but will likely feel hungrier faster, and find it harder to stay in your calorie budget
This doesn't mean you have to live on salads though, just think of your calories like cash. You have a ceratain daily allowance, make sure you budget all the necessary, good for your body stuff first, but save enough for regular treats and goodies after.

I agree with the posts above. It works as long as you are properly tracking. I track everything that goes in my mouth and weigh out all of my foods.

Like Momepro said above 'you don't have to live on salads' you just have to budget for everything, which is why planning ahead is so helpful. I log my nightly treat early in the day so that I know I will have room for it at the end of the day!!

It's all about calories in versus calories out.... When the app adds in additional calories to my daily goal because of workouts that I have completed, I DO NOT consume those additional calories. I stick to my same daily goal each day ( I hope that makes sense).

    Good Luck!!

    tips about accuracy:
    1. Weigh and measure all food when able
    2. foods in the tracker that have a green badge with a check mark on it mean the nutritional info has been verified=typically the most accurate
    3. I use the barcode scanner on packaged food whenever possible for accurate info
    4. Meals you make frequently can be saved as a meal so you don't have to enter in every ingredient every time.
    Enjoy! And best of luck!
