My husband is the same way. Unfortunately, as a chronic depressive, I have that little negative voice in my head telling me I look stupid or should just give up and every other stupid thing under the sun, so I have to drown the little bugger out.

Me too! I'm an amateur musician and music lover, I get caught up in it if music is playing. So for me no music during weight lifting where I need focus but if I'm going on a treadmill or elliptical. Put on the head phones and crank it up. Faster paced and funky and dance type music keep my pace up.
