Hi
I’m currently in week 3 and unsure what I should be inputting for exercise. Any ideas? Thanks.

I downloaded the Pacer app and sync it to MyFitnessPal so when I do a run, I just turned on the GPS and when I'm done I turned it off, MyFitnessPal does all the inputting and takes care of the rest automatically.

There are other running apps you can sync to MyFitnessPal, it's in the "Apps and devices" link.

Thank you. I have Strava but can’t link that.

Strava should link with MFP without any issue. https://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/229

I don't have anything to add in terms of helping with the app and tracking exercise, but congrats on doing C25K training! I did the whole plan a few years ago and it turned me on to running. I *never* would have thought I'd be someone who enjoyed running. Ever. :) I hope you have fun with it!

(and if you need more motivation and like geeky things, you can run Zombies, Run! in the background of most training apps and get some cool story line while you run, too)

I just created an entry called C25k...you don't have to select from the database, you can make your own exercise entries.

My way was probably silly. I would look at the workout for the day, and add up the walking minutes (5 minute warmup, 1 minute walk, etc. etc.) I would input "walking at moderate pace for 14 minutes" or whatever. Then I'd add up the running minutes, and input "running at slow pace for 15 minutes" or whatever it was. I figured this gave a semi-accurate exercise estimate based on the time it took to exert myself at different times of the workout.

This makes sense. I had a fitness tracker when I did C25K (still do) and just used it.

I use the UA Record app (another UA app that syncs with MFP). It has a MUCH more robust exercise tracking and logging function. I enter my running in there (distance and time) and it gives me a pretty accurate calorie burn. Then it automatically loads into MFP and I'm good to go! I really like the app combo it works great!

Thank you everyone!! Especially for your supportive and encouraging words. I’m loving it! Only ever did treadmill running but prefer this. I’ve linked Pacer and Strava. I just didn’t want to overestimate.

What I sometimes do is just edit the calories in the synced exercise to maybe 70% of what they were if it looks too high. If you find your weight is doing something it should be losing too much/too little then you can adjust them up/down accordingly.

Bit of help pls. Pacer has been adding calories into mfp until yesterday. Any ideas what’s gone wrong? Still adds the steps. Thanks!

Is it doing it as an adjustment or as exercise details?

Ooh not sure. It’s now added in a few. Something to do with adjustment?

If you aren't seeing calories added in an adjustment it could be because haven't reached the amount of steps that correspond to your activity level.

For example: Sedentary is around 3000 steps so if you haven't reached 3000 steps you won't "earn" any adjustment till you surpass it.

Great thank you! So should I add calories burnt through exercise manually or leave it off?

I would leave it off today and see what the adjustment comes up as at the end of today on your final sync. It might just a be a one-off bug.
