I have a question about the calories per day

Okay so I weigh 350 and I'm trying to get to 180 so I was recommended this app and I out in all my information in and it said I need to eat 2336 calories a day is that to lose weight or gain?

    Lose.

    I'm 5'9, 179 lbs, and I can lose on 2000 calories per day. So those numbers sound about right, based on your starting weight.

    If you told it you want to lose weight, it's to lose weight

    You would have needed to chose a goal, either lose/gain 0.5,1,1.5 or 2 lbs a week. This along with your activity level will determine the amount MFP gives you as your calorie goal.

    As you lose, you'll require fewer calories to lose, so you won't eat that much the whole time, but it sounds like a decent number to get started with.

    Next up: Get a food scale to weigh your portions so you know you're nailing your calories.

    Sounds right to me. As you lose you will need to adjust your intake and up your exercise. Good luck towards reaching your goals!
