3-4lb gain in a weekend?

I’m so sad , I was steadily losing and I had a cheat day or two and now it seems I’ve gained 3-4lbs back . I don’t know what happened?!

On your cheat day did you eat more carbs than usual? Fiber? Salt? Volume?
All of those things will stay in your body for a few days. Just go back to your usual and they will go away.4 -

Don't worry too much about it. It's not fat. In order to gain 3lbs of fat you'd have to have eaten about 10,500 calories OVER your maintenance calories for that cheat day. Which I'm going to assume you didn't. However for every gram of carbs you eat your body will cling on to about 4g of water (approximately) and it's very possible you hit about 300g of carbs (I know I certainly do on my cheat days) just go back to your normal cutting diet and it'll slowly leave. I find on average I put on about 6-8lbs after every cheat day (every Sunday) and by the Friday after I weigh what I did the week before at my lightest (the last Saturday morning) and then on the Saturday morning the day after I see just how much I lost for that week. This trend has been the same for about the last 4 months. The most fat I've estimated I put on in a cheat day is about half a pound. And that was a crazy exception.
TLDR: its water weight. Probably from carbs, salt. Don't worry about it, cheat days are useful.5 -

you had a cheat day... you ate stuff high in carbs and salt... that's what happened. what did you think the outcome would be?7 -
I always but in about 5lbs over the weekend ... it’s water weight from increased sodium, carbs, sugar and your muscles refilling with glycogen .... fear not it will go over the next week3

As others have said - it’s likely temporary water weight from the “cheat days”. Maybe you should consider if your diet is overly restrictive if you feel you need “cheat days” that result in overindulging and this sort of impact.
There’s nothing inherently unhealthy about fried foods and chocolate chip cookies, in the context of an overall balanced, nutrient dense and calorie appropriate diet. If you find ways to fit in those sorts of foods more regularly, in moderation, then you may not feel the need to go overboard on “cheat days”.3 -

As others have said , don’t worry about it. I was in week 3 of my low carb/Keto/Atkins whatever, loosing steadily when we went on a 4 day trip with friends. I totally splurged and carbed out on food and beer. It was Glorious. Gained 4.5 lbs and felt horrible, for about a day. Lost it all and an extra 1/2 lb in three days after resuming the diet.

Funny enough lost a llb and half today as well. I’m officially 21.5 lbs down1
