mindfulness meditation

For the past month, my wife and I have set aside 20 minutes right after dinner to meditate. I think that it is helping. I'd recommend it to others.
The most important thing about the meditation might be just setting aside the time for me. It reminds me that I'm worth it.
I'll write more if anybody is interested.

I've just started meditating too. There's a free app, Stop, breathe, think. There are some great guided meditation on there.0

In what way does it help you? I'm thinking that since you meditate specifically after dinner, does it allow you to digest and feel satisfied, and so therefore, help you stay at your calorie goal?0

I personally find that meditation helps me to control my bad habits. I get a sense of satisfaction and well-being....it helps me to not make bad choices, like late night snacking or overeating at dinner. Meditation after a workout is best for me.0

I don't meditate, but I pray. I have been doing my own form of mindful eating and it is helping me enjoy food more while eating less. I eat slowly, take smaller bites, and chew them well while being conscious of the flavors and textures. I'm learning more and thinking about nutrition while I prepare and enjoy meals. We've joined platejoy.com and cooking all our meals, but never the same one twice, and using lots of herbs and unfamiliar ingredients. When I get to onederland, I'll have a lot of habits changed. I'm losing a lot of weight, but don't think of myself as being on a diet. Instead I consider it mindful or conscious eating.2

How does it help? Hmmm. Well, for me, it keeps me focused. It helps me to stay "in the moment." I'm definitely sleeping better and it's a deeper sleep. I'm dreaming more.
Practicing mindfulness, and meditation can be part of that, remind you to not dwell in the past and to not be anxious about the future. Being in the moment should help with all decisions, including food decisions, which we have almost constantly.
There are excellent and free meditations of various lengths available on U-Tube.
