Hi,
I am going to go for Valentine's dinner at PF Changs. I was looking at the menu and the calories of anything good is so much.
Sould I stave my self the whole day and eat my calories for dinner.
Or should I work out for three hours. What a conundrum!!!
If you have eaten there, what you suggest to eat.

I ussually do a combination lol- I keep my calories super low on my girls nigts by only eating fresh fruits and veggies-ussually raw, and I work out extra long and hard so I can eat queso and drink ritas with the girls lol0

i eat the shrimp w/lobster or beef with broccoli. i have never eaten the dinner portion but the lunch size is not toooo bad. but I do eat some of the shrimp fired rice, but I am the big geek that actually measure it out at the table. I also eat the egg drop soup and that helps me not be as hungry to eat everything else, but hey its day, you enjoy yourself.0

I would eat what I wanted...honestly.0

Have you gone to their website??? Under the Menu tab there is an option to download the nutritional value for all their dishes. That might make it a little easier to choose.0

I usually get the chicken lettuce wraps (off the appetizer menu) and have that as my dinner (about 500 calories) and they seem to take long to eat because you build them yourself.
Or I get the Ginerg Chicken Brocoli, its about 660 calories. (neither of those includes rice)
Drink lots of water during the day and talk to you date alot (you wont eat as much )0 -

Thank you all for your great input. But I liked you answer best.LOL:laugh:0 -
Why not split an entree with your date? It's healthier, and it gives you an excuse to sit closer. Plus you save a few bucks. And in this economic environment, whoever's treating will appreciate it!0

It is my husband. When I was single and a single mom, my friends and I would always eat out but would share split meal. My skinny husband does not like to spilt the meal,he likes leftovers!!
Thanks for the input.0 -
Get chicken and broccoli/beef and broccoli, but ask for the sauce on the side. They'll usually make it without much fuss. Then go light with the sauce!0

You can actually eat quite a bit there without a ton of calories. I usually eat there about once a month with a friend and we share the chicken lettuce wraps and I order the chicken chow mein or the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice. Realistically you won't be able to eat the entire serving so it's only about half the calories that are listed on the website. Good luck and enjoy! :drinker:0

I am going to eat this,thanks0 -
Great Idea, Sauce on the side. I am relieved. I was worried about ruining my "good" week.0

If you want to eat a high calorie meal, just eat half of it, and bring the rest home! Restaurant portions are always too big, anyway. But other people's ideas seem good, too!
Don't restrain yourself though, enjoy the night out. Don't ruin it by thinking too much about your calories! Life happens, to every single one of us, and it's okay to have a high calorie meal once a while!0 -
I'd just chalk it up to a Cheat Day and say "BRING ON THE LETTUCE WRAPS, AND THE MU SHU PORK, BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"0

lol:laugh:0

One day over is not going to sabatoge you. Just make this your splurge day!0

Last time I went there I had the won ton soup and the lettuce wraps. You can actually eat the entire plate and be good to go on calories. Then...I picked at the main dishes and let me tell you...adding in a tenth of 3 different meals was MORE then the soup and wraps!!0

In Eat This Not That, they list the best as:
Wild Alaskan Sockeye, 750 cal
Seared Ahi Tuna, 260 cal
Ginger Chicken & Brocolli, 660 cal
Sichuan-style Asparagus, 200 cal0 -
I always get the chicken lettuce wraps and Budda's Feast (steamed). They're both good choices. Yum.0

Don't starve yourself to enjoy a good meal out. And don't miss out on life to lose that extra pound! It's too short (life, not that pound). Go to PF Chang's, order whatever your heart desires and as soon as it comes, as for a "to go" box so that from the start, you can put 1/2 of your order to take home. From the get-go, you'll already be consuming only half of the calories, fat, and sodium the dish offers. We all know that EVERY restaurant these days offers portions that are just INSANE. So you're choosing to eat in moderation and smartly rather than deprive yourself of anything throughout the day. Eating smart is such an important part of learning how to eat for life (which is what we're all doing here, right? We're not "dieting" and then going to return to our past bad habits). I have learned that just by cutting virtually everything I put on my plate in half (in terms of serving portion) I was able to take off 15 pounds in less than 2 months... and I wasn't even trying at the time!! Go have fun: eat smart during the day (but EAT or your metabolism will slow and you won't burn as many calories because your body will pick up on the fact that you're starving yourself.. your body will think it's for survival, not to save up for PF Chang's and will therefore slow down it's calorie burning to reserve them)... and definitely don't work out for 3 hours; you'll likely injure yourself. Sorry if I come across preachy :ohwell: that's not my intention... I'm a personal trainer and healthcare provider so I get a wee bit passionate about all this  I love this site just to keep myself in check, if you will, and I think it's great that so many people have access to it for free. Best of luck and have fun!!0
