i want to get leaner, but long distance running makes me rungry, what do you suggest?0 -
Hiit training...high intensity...I jog at a steady pace then sprint or increase speed for a certain time say 30 secs then back to a jog.You count lampposts ...sprint for so many then back to normal...only takes 20 mins and youl burn more than you would in an hr of steady state.More cardio tends folk more hungry...make sure your drinking enough water...a lot of people when in fact there dehydrated...hope that helps ☺️4

so you're telling me i can burn nearly 500 cals in 20 minutes doing HIIT? :huh:0 -
No but you will in 30 mins roughly jogging at 8mph...all I’m saying is try hiit cardio...less time more burn and you will be as hungry3
-
Won’t be as hungry0

You might want to investigate the true rate of calorie burns of short duration higher intensity exercise versus long duration exercise. Please also remember that steady state doesn't equal low intensity.
You might like to take some time to do a lot of reading before leaping in with your advice - this isn't your normal clueless gym newbie audience.2 -
I need a full body kettlebell workout to run 3 days a week ... I have come from the world of barbell where I was doing Squats, deadlifts, bench, OHP and rows and supplementing with pull ups
What have you got ?0 -
oh and secondly ... I cant do an overhead squat .... is there a progression I can follow to work myself up to it ??0

30 minutes at 7:30 pace will get you 4 miles. If you are a 70 kg man, that will get you about 500 calories. That's also fairly brisk pace for a lot of people. Also, it's not HIIT, which, by the way, isn't magic.2 -
Who said it was magic?1

More likely opens thread to promote his business.
But then gives spectacularly poor advice.
Twenty minutes of Fartlek training (which isn't HIIT, it's just interval training....) burning as much as an hour of (unspecified) steady state running for example.
A good PT asks questions before giving advice. Goals, capabilities, training plan context......
Would then have discovered the runner is training for a half marathon so telling then to cut training session duration down to 20 minutes isn't exactly a good idea!
