Women's running shorts

Does anyone have a fave brand/style of running shorts that has a REAL pocket (not that stupid key pocket in the liner that most women's running shorts have)? I like to have a small, zippered pocket for my iPod, but it's hard to shop with that attribute in mind. I think a brand/style would give me a better place to start. :)

I have three pairs of Danskins mesh running shorts ( I think I got them at Wal-Mart). They have real pockets on them like regular shorts but they are not very deep. I have been able to put my phone in them when I jog and sofar have not had any problmes. Good luck :)

Try REI. I am VERY particular about my running gear so I'm not found of theirs (I'm smallish and they don't carry sizes small enough to not chafe) but that would be the first place I looked for something like that.

This is my biggest complaint about women's fitness gear.

My kingdom for a pocket with a zipper!

    +1

And the main reason I run in skirts when I run long. I'll check out Lulemon. I've never looked at their stuff.
  • Personally I prefer to use an micropack that clips onto my waistband. I buy majorly cheapo shorts for working out because well, I'm cheap. I clip it to the band at the small of my back and it holds everything from a key to an id to my ipod (I prefer to run my ear bud cords up my back anyway). I have also clipped it to the back of my sports bra and my shoe but I prefer the waistband most. This amphipod says put, is light weight so it doesn't drag your drawers down and is easy to wipe off. Check out the website below

I have this problem ALL of the time. Because I live in an apartment where the key to get in isn't actually a key-it's a key card. So that thing doesn't fit in those itty-bitty pockets.

I use these shorts at times... if you like the compression:

They have a pocket in the back with a zipper that I'm able to put my key card in as well as a few other things if I'd like. So far they're the only ones I've found. Although, I like running in my underarmour shorts better... haha

I take the key remote off & leave the rest in my locked car. I also use the arm band for my iTunes.
  • I have some tri bottoms from lululemon with a good pocket, but they're from a few years ago. They have a bit of bike padding but are still great for running.

I don't wear the typical runner's shorts because of my thighs...However, I found a pair of New Balannce Lightning Dry shorts that hit just above the knee & have 2 normal pockets. I don't carry anything in the pockets though because I have my armband for my ipod and either my Nathan hydration belt for my keys or my ironman water bottle also has a place for my car keys.

Oh...and I got the NB shorts at TX Maxx for either $12 or $14.99...they have a ton of great stuff!

    Good luck!
