How do I tone the inner thigh? Even at my skinniest I could always pinch a good amount of chub. It just seems like an awkward area to tone. Suggestions?

You can't spot reduce "chub" or fat, unfortunately. You have to burn it off through cardio and calorie deficit. That being said, I like to do scissor kicks to tone up the inner thigh muscles. You can really feel it target that area. Here's how to do it:

squeeze a large stability ball between your knees, lift and lower your legs with the ball between them. or use the inner thigh ("baby maker") machine. or do cardio activities like skating or skiing.

Squats . . . . squat thrusts, pliae squats, jump squats. Any type of movement that has you in that squat position that makes you your legs begin to shake and burn . . . works thighs and glutes. Lots of reps and good form is a must. They are killer, but they are worth it.
  • You can't lose fat in one specific area, even if you do 1000 leg/thigh exercises a day. Fat is commonly stored around the abdominal, behind the arm, and in between the legs. Through diet and exercise you will burn the fat, but unfortunately these are the areas where it is last to go. Some women are always going to have big thighs, like me, so don't shoot for perfection. Also if you don't eat carbs before you work out, your body will burn straight fat instead of having to burn the carbs first.

Sumo Deadlifts will help work the inner muscle of your leg there, plus it will also help with your glutes and overall strength.

Edit: Very wide stanced Sumo Deadlifts.

Edit2: Fat deposit reduction will come from diet though, so that must be order too. If you belong to a gym you can do a Leg workout where you do Sumo Deadlifts, then use that machine where you squeeze your legs together to work that section to and maybe finish off with some Lunges.

not sure what its called but I do this; point toes outwards in a standing position, jump and lift arms to the ceiling and squatting x (Jillian Michaels) to the floor...repeat...hard to describe sorry hope this helps
  • Walking Lunges with and without dumbbells will really help reduce the fat in the inner and outer thigh. I can say that from experience. Don't worry though. Woman naturally have extra flab on the inner thighs and studies have proven it's healthy.

Got a resistance band? Sit in a straight back chair, run the band around the back of the chair just below your butt, run the band along the outside of your thighs and around the inside of your knees. Put your hands (holding the band ends) at a comfortable position between your thighs. The band should be tight enough to make your knees pull apart. Then squeeze your legs together.

Or.. with the same band, secure the end of the band in a closed door (close to the floor), or under the couch leg (if the couch is heavy enough). Loop the other end around your foot/ankle that is close to the door as you stand sideways. Pull your looped leg across in front or behind your other leg. Switch sides.

I have bad knees and these moves don't bother them.

you can't spot reduce, as someone mentioned, but i agree with the cardio recommendation. also, hip adduction/abduction machines work to build those muscles and have totally strengthened my inner/outer thighs.
