Disappointed

I joined mfp a week ago and have to say i am disappointed. I was so enjoying this but these past few days i have been getting unwanted messages from a male whom i had friended (thinking he would encourage me as i would him), i told him no to the content of his messages but he wouldn't stop! Maybe i should be flattered at the attention but it has made me so uncomfortable and marred my experience on here. I came to lose weight and get fit, i'm not here to find a "friend for fun" I wish you all the very best in your endeavours, keep up what you're doing, you're all doing amazing!

I suggest reporting him then blocking him. Don't let one idiot ruin it for you!7

This. Sadly the online world is full of people who don't recognise boundaries - it would be a shame to leave a useful aid to your health and well being (and in general a supportive group of people) because one person insists on seeing it as a 'hook-up' site
Edited to add - this is the main reason why I resttrict the number of mfp friends I have (similar experience a good few years ago) and for being careful with personal information I publish here. Stay and enjoy the mfp world, but be ruthless with weirdos1 -

Please don't say this to yourself. You feel uncomfortable and you have every right to. A lot of the time that is exactly how they want you to feel. People sending inappropriate messages is about THEM and the sick thrill they get from pushing boundaries, it's not your fault.1 -
Sadly there are a lot of creeps who prey on people here, but don't let the actions of one creep overshadow the normal supportive folks here. Report them, block them and try not to let it ruin the experience.2

Unfortunately there is a small group of people who will take any opportunity to 'try their luck'
I have had to implement a one strike and you're out rule with men on this site. I will accept a friendship request but any private messages that are not clearly health and fitness related (even innocent ones like 'hi, congrats on your progress') are ignored and if they don't like that they are blocked. I am not here for hook-ups and frankly don't understand why there are people who continue to use it as such when there are plenty of other sites they can use that are expressly for that reason!1 -
