After flicking through some topics on here, there are some discussions about whether or not you "should" eat back your exercise cals each day. Can someone just give me the executive summary for and against this?? Just want to know if I should or shouldn't be doing it! What benefit do we get from eating them back?

There is no real answer.. it works for some, doesn't work for others. All that you can do is play around with it and see what works for you.

The benefit is that your supposed to lose weight at a more consistent rate because there is a deficit already built in my MFP.

I personally do.. Call me a pig but if I don't, I net wayyy too low and am starving.
  • Yeah, after doing a bit of reading, I think I'll try and eat a few of mine but not all of them - unless it's necessary - so I keep a bit of a hold on my defecit without going overboard and giving in to cravings or lethagy!!!

I liked this article...and I agree it depends on the person. I feel that as long as I'm not starving myself, and I feel good, I don't want to eat back all my exercise calores. Part of the reason, also, is that calories burned is never 100% so I don't want to end up eating back more calories thinking I burned all of those calories. I may have only really burned 3/4 of that amount...

I have been struggling with this as well. I found that I gained if I ate them all, so I try to eat some, and I'm not really hungry.
