Fitbit steps and exercise

Hi in terms of the exercise calories in mfp from Fitbit do you turn off the steps towards exercise option or do you leave them on and count these towards your exercise? Just wondering as if I use mfp calcs and need to eat back some of my exercise cals do I use these steps towards my exercise? Or is it best to turn it off and manually add exercise?

There is always more than one way to do it, but the way I like to have mine set up is to set myself to sedentary on My Fitness Pal and let my Fitbit add ALL my exercise calories. This works for me because my main exercise is walking or running. I could set myself as more active, and then the Fitbit would just give me less of an adjustment, so it all works out the same no matter how you set your activity level. I like to set myself as sedentary so that I only see my base calories for those very rare days that I really am setting around doing nothing. I don’t eat all my exercise calories back. I like to leave extra for my poor logging moments and to bank calories for weekend splurges. If you do more of other types of non-cardio exercise, you may want to set it up differently.

If you're following MFP's goals, it's expected that you eat back exercise/activity tracker calories. As a premium user you do have that option to not add the calories in, but it isn't recommended, especially if you do a lot of moving around and receive a high adjustment.
