I Won't Have Gastric Bypass Surgery AGAIN!

Back in 2015 I weighed 263 pounds. My heaviest weight and I'm only 5'2. I was desperate and needed a "jump start." I went for it. I lost 100 pounds and got down to 160 pounds. However, fast forward 3 years to 2018...I am back to 200 poubds now. I've regained 40 pounds. Most of it is due to poor food choices, lack of exercise and these medications that I take. I'm getting desperate again and was thinking of having Gastric Bypass Revision Surgery...which believe it or not they DO! But tonight I stopped myself and decided I won't go through that again. I can lose the weight naturally and keep it off. I have to get to the root of the problem and not try to mask it with yet another surgery. It would be silly of me and irresponsible. I feel motivated again to keep going and do it naturally.

You gained those 40 lbs in 3 years by eating 127 calories a day more than your maintenance calorie limit.
Don't worry about needing a "jump start" this time or making self-punishing changes to your diet.
Just eat a little bit less and you'll be able to last as long as it takes.
You've got this.38 -
Start logging accurately and consistently, and really start to learn from your food diary. What foods fill you up? Give you energy? What foods leave you hungry? Where do you waste calories? Start to tweak the way you eat based on that. The goal is to find a way of eating that you enjoy, that's practical, and that keeps you at the right calorie level. So you won't need jump starts, or motivation, it will just be the way you eat.
Be patient and good luck!6 -
You said you make poor food choices. Boom. There it is. Surgery is just a tool to losing weight, not a fix for never having to work at it again. And what good would it do to have surgery again if you continue to make poor choices? Start logging every bite and make GOOD food choices. And I'll bet your doctor told you to eat high protein after your surgery too. This is all within your control just like the rest of us. You can do this!!3

Go back to following your surgeons reccomendations and log ALL foods and liquids with calories
You'll be just fine. Surgery was never a guarantee of anything. I've seen folks fail to lose anything (mil) and folks gain it all back (fil) and I've seen those lose the weight and keep it off along with people who've had a little regain but recognised it and reined it back in. Those people are the ones who followed thier surgeons eating plans and exercise regularly.3 -
I had a gastric bypass in 2012 lost 185 lbs, over the years since then put on 45 lbs have been on Keto since November and have lost 42 lbs. I found snacking on the wrong foods did it for me people think that a gastric bypass is an easy way out but it’s not you still have to make an effort, good luck in your journey6
