Hey! My name is Jess. I'm a 26 year old from the Lower Mainland in BC, Canada. I have been struggling with my weight most of my life. Combination of hypothyroidism, depression, anxiety, fibromyalgia, poor food choices, and lack of activity. I am working on making better choices as I want to start building a family in the next year or two with my husband. I am recently out of physiotherapy after multiple vehicle accidents, and am still suffering with pain in my lower back, right hip, knee and ankle. While losing weight is a given, I am more concerned with creating sustainable, long term habits to help combat current and future pain issues. I am trying to go to the gym at least three times a week, but motivation is hard. I have recently quit smoking, and am actively trying to drink more water. I also have to limit fat intake due to having my gall bladder removed a couple of years ago. I am really just looking for someone to kick my *kitten* into gear, motivate me to go to the gym, talk to me about eating habits. My husband is supportive of me going to the gym, however, he refuses to eat green food (think dwarves from the Hobbit), so the challenge is creating basically two separate meals for him and I. So, uh... Help?

The meanie in me says that if your hubby won't eat what you're cooking to eat, he should make his own food. But I might be cranky (it's early here, and my dogs decided I needed to be up REEEEAAAAAALLLLLLLYYYYY early this morning)....

But mostly I just wanted to tell you 'welcome to MFP'. :flowerforyou:

Welcome! Please don’t let her husband’s fear of vegetables (mine, swears he can only eat cucumbers, really? Come, on!) be the cause of you not getting your health together. You can make the same meal, just watch your portions and ADD a veggie selection to YOUR plate and enjoy. Don’t hinder your progress. Sometimes, we have to be the example to others and this will be true especially if you want to have a family in the future. You may have to be the example in the family. Maybe as you start to feel better, your husband will jump on board...and maybe even eat a carrot. :D

Welcome I cook the main meals and I tell my wife if she doesn't like what I make have at it and make your own won't hurt my feelings. But it is about portions and if he doesn't like veges he's a big boy and he doesn't have to eat them. I've found there are a ton of healthy good tasting food out there I used to be only eat corn for my vegy but have expanded to almost all of them.

Hubby will eat carrots, corn, peas and potatoes. So high starchy foods. I'm trying to throw half a cup of frozen veggies in the microwave, or toaster oven to help supplement the veggie intake for myself, and eating more fish and chicken and rice. Need to remember to take my Synthroid too though
