Spray Tan

I had my very first tanning experience today. I have never used a tanning bed before so I thought I would try a spray tan. Took almost no time and you could see the color instantly. After letting it sit for a few hours and it's getting darker, I really like it. I feel thinner and my stomach looks flatter. Why are tans so appealing and how to they trick your mind like that? I'm happy it does though. I just got an extra shot of motivation to go do my workouts. I haven't been this dark probably since my summer in Turkey 5 years ago. I missed it.

I've never done spray or bed tanning, I just take advantage of the sun when I'm out on the lake or something. I usually love being pale, but when I get a nice and even tan, I admittedly feel a little.. exotic! ;D

Most spray tans tend to flake off after several days - use lots of lotion!

I use tan towels...like a spray tan but you wipe it on yourself - reminds me, I'm a whitey - I need to put some on. I forget how good being tan makes you feel!

hopefully you don't sweat your tan off. but being darker makes you look more defined because it creates a shadow where your muscles are. that's why body builder go tanning. I see the juice head guys at my gym go tanning all the time-- probably because they think it makes them look buff lol

I had my first professional spray tan before my vacation this year...it was AMAZING! I went from not feeling like I could wear a bikini to wearing one and feeling great. It is amazing what a tan can do for the way you look.

optical illusions haha same reason black is slimming and with makeup we contour with a darker color, highlight with a lighter - it's all smoke and mirrors!! That being said, I love me a good tan! fake or not!
  • I wish I could tan...since I'm a ginger, I look really weird with a tan

Kudos to you for staying out of the tanning bed, those things are dangerous!

Sometimes I use tanning spray & lotion (Neutrogena mist & Jergens gradual tan lotions for face & body).. it made me feel a lot better, but looked crappy coming off :/ I used it for a month or so and it did work and looked very natural, just haven't done it since it came off the last time. It can be hard to keep up with and if you don't it doesn't look that great.

do not workout right away! the sweat will make you streak! and do not shower for at least 4-6 hours

I don't know if I see people who did it themselves or what, but the spray tanners I've seen look orange?? I just tan the natural way.. If I'm working outside (yard work, farming, etc) I try and wear tank tops and shorts to get a good tan. I have German and Italian running through my blood, I should naturally have darker skin. I seriously look sickly and kind of yellow if I haven't gotten sun in a while

I don't think it looks orange. It looks pretty good. I spend a lot of time outside but I burn so I don't get as dark as I like to get. I wear sunscreen when I know I'm going to be outside for a while. And it takes too long to lay outside to get that dark. I waited 7 hours before showering and some of the initial bronzer colour comes off but I'm still pretty dark. I'm going to use the Jergens Natural Glow to extend it and keep it looking good. I think I would do it again.

Been searching for threads on this...do they manually spray you or is it like a stand up tanning booth where it sprays you? Want to prepare myself if I have to be practically naked for a stranger.

Because even just wearing darker clothes makes you look thinner. Ironically, almost every country except the USA desires their "celebrities" to look lighter in skin tone and they take skin lightening drugs to do it.

I tan in the tanning beds every year for a few months then I stop and my tan goes away but I always tan before summer hits it always gives me a lil more confidence. I stopped tanning early this year @ the end of June. Usually I hold out til the end of July.
  • I feel 150 percent better about myself when I am tan. I use Jergens Daily, and Sublime Bronzer....also found an all over body bronzer at Sephora! I can't tan in the sun,I'm actually a red head. The difference is amazing.

ick...a friend of mine did a spray tan and then got into a hot car in the summer with leather seats and sweated most of it off. gross.

Embrace your paleness. That's what I do. :-)

Did you tan your face too? I feel like I'm really pale so I want a tan for the body but I'm a little wary about my face....obviously a line dividing the two shades would look too weird too!
