Anyone else have cravings around that time of month? Just ate 4 cookies and half a jar of salty chips seriously having issues the last 3 months in a row controlling my cravings during this time. Any suggestions on what might help? I get so down on myself when I mess up this bad.

When I was losing weight, I allowed myself maintenance calories and no food rules for those 2 days every month. I found planning it and accepting it eliminated the guilt for eating wrong, which was usually what actually caused me to go bonkers overboard. Instead I frame it as - I'm being kind to myself at a difficult time for me by eating a couple of hundred extra calories for a couple of day, and that's no big deal. It also helped me to buy single serving packages of the foods I tended to crave, so I could have them, but I couldn't have 12 of them
It's also important to remember that one bad day will not ruin everything, unless you beat yourself up so bad over it you fall completely off the wagon!6 -
I feel your pain. Can't say that I've got a solution, but I have accepted that I tend to eat more nearing that time, so I eat a bit less after and it all seems to even out.
I get this insane salt craving... as in OMG I could suck the salt off of every mcdonald french fry in the building, if I was allowed! lol3 -
Don't beat yourself over it! Usually at around that time of the month I allow myself to eat what I'm craving - mostly chocolate, but sometimes ice cream. I sometimes feel that if I allow myself to have it at that time, when I eventually do have it, I find myself going overboard.
Allowing yourself to have the things you're craving during that time of the month is perfectly acceptable. It won't ruin your progress and it won't change anything so don't worry about it!5 -
Oh god yes! I'm dying to break into the snack jars and just eat my body weight in crisps and chocolate! Time of the month is the hardest.2

I find it's best to just give myself and my body a break during that time. My emotions and my cramps are making me suffer enough, I'm not going to make it worse by eating 1200 cals
So yeah, I also either maintain or make sure to have nothing in the house. When u don't have it I can't eat it..1 -
I have struggled with the same problem myself. I know I shouldn't snack/ eat extra, I know I'll feel guilty afterwards, it I cannot stop thinking about it, it's a compulsion. And when there are no sweets/snacks in the house, I'd just go for whatever food is available, and of course I would feel awful afterwards.
I believe if you cannot stop thinking or craving extra, try to plan it in your meal for the days to have extra calories remaining for that extra snack.0
