Choosing the Correct Activity Level for Weight Loss

Hey guys! So I’m needing some advice. I just got started with this app. My goal is weight loss, and I do both cardio and strength training at the gym 4-5 days a week. When selecting an activity level for my profile on this app, I’m not sure which one to choose. Choosing light activity level allows me 1,220 calories per day. The next level of activity up allows 1,500. I’m not sure which one to choose and I’m anxious that the difference could jeopardize my weight loss goal.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I am super new to this!

The activity level on mfp is supposed to be your normal day to day activity, not purposeful exercise. That gives you a baseline calorie goal for days you don't workout. When you do workout, you log the exercise and eat back some of the extra calories it gives you.

Did you choose a weekly goal if 2 lbs per week? Unless you are obese, 2 lbs really isn't realistic, so you might want to rethink that.

As it turns out, no app or formula can accurately determine how active you are or your perfect calorie level, it's all trial and error. MFP gives you a starting point, and then over the weeks you may very well need to tweak up or down based on your results. Don't stress out trying to start off perfect, just be patient and accept you will have a learning curve. Good luck!
