Activity level and Fitbit charge 2 hr

I just started using a Fitbit charge 2 hr, previously I had my activity level set to active since I average between 12k and 16k steps a day. No that I have the charge 2 should I change my activity level to sedentary or leave it as active?

Whatever you feel best with. I prefer starting off with more calories and getting a smaller adjustment, but the totals should be similar at any level. Just remember to have negative adjustments enabled for those days where you do happen to be less active.0

Use the web version and navigate to MY HOME > Settings > Diary Settings and scroll to the bottom.

The amount of adjustment a person may lose depends on how active they remain until midnight local. I do not make it into bed until 11 or 11:30 p.m., so I rarely see any decrease before the final sync at midnight local.0 -
Im lightly active, but I have mine set to sedentry because I’m scared of having calories taken away from me....0

Yes. But by picking sedentary, MFP will not assume that you're active until midnight, so it will be more accurate.
I still don't really understand why MFP acts that way - Fitbit assumes you're going to burn your BMR, pretty much, and adds calories as you go. But MFP assumes you're going to have the same amount of activity all day, which obviously isn't going to happen.0 -
I have the Alta HR which is similar. I’ve had a Fitbit for a while now (Charge HR before this one), so I have a fairly good touch to what my average daily burn is in different situations. I don’t even know what my activity level on MFP is currently, as my average burn is about 2500, and I have the mfp calorie goal set at 2000. With a daily 500cal deficit, I should be losing a pound a week. I’ve been working with this system for 2 months now, and so far it works pretty well and the difference between weekly burn and intake averages is reflected on the scale. Some weeks, the average deficit is a lot less, but those weeks show a correspondingly smaller loss.0
