I lost a lot of weight... I went from 200 lbs down to 175. I felt and looked great! But now I am back to 190! This might be partly due to the fact that I quit smoking! I also ate wrong!

I want to get down between 165lbs to 170lbs!

Losing weight when you're overweight will make you healthier, so you will naturally feel and look better. But were you happy with the lifestyle that allowed you to lose weight, too?

I'm happy that I quit smoking. I just want to get down to 10=15% body fat and between 165lb to 170lb. I wonder how long it will take.

It's time to start eating right again. How much can I treat myself?

Set your weekly weightloss goal to 1 pound. Use your food diary, and a food scale, and prelog whole days if that helps you. You can treat yourself as much as you like, within your calorie target.

It takes the time it takes. If you start now, it will happen sooner, than if you wait.

The lower bodyfat%, the greater effort and longer time it will take.

Don't be hard on yourself, its only 5lbs but take action before more gain happens.

Track your food, aim for up to 1lb loss per week - if you set MFP to lose 1lb it will calculate the calories for you to eat daily.

Don't think about how long it will take, but do make a start.

As for 'eating wrong', don't think of it as that, its not what you eat its all about the total calories being consumed, if you take in less than you burn you will lose.

    All the best.

Don't get mad, get even. Go for it, get yourself back into the place you want to be. It will happen.

Thanks everyone. I am aiming at 2lbs per week. Is that too high?

Congrats on your loss so far! It's okay to be mad, just remember that you are turning things around again. Since you only have 25 lbs to lose, it would be better to aim for 0.5lb a week. That way it's more sustainable, less muscle loss, and easier to transition to maintenance.

    Good luck

You have around 20lbs to lose so yes 2lbs is too much per week. Aim for 0.5-1lb per week.

Quitting smoking is a huge victory and probably the most important thing anyone can do to support good health and longevity! You'll lose the weight but seriously, that you stopped smoking is win, win...all the way!

Just curious why 2lbs a week is too high? I reduced my goal to 1lb a week.

because you will lose lean muscle mass along with the fat, a less aggressive calorie deficit will help. We lose some muscle anyway when at deficit though. We want to hang on to as much muscle as possible.

    Thanks for your support everyone.

How long should it take for me to get to my goal if I stick to it faithfully?

If you want to stay there forever, you're going to have to watch what you eat for your entire life. That's another why why slow fat loss is better. Use this time to figure out what you're willing to do to maintain your goal.
