Hi! Curious if people track seltzer as water?

I've read somewhere that you should track it as 50% - so if a can of water is 12oz, then you should track as 6oz. Thoughts?

    Why are you tracking water?

And no, it's 11.9999999999 oz water.

I've never heard of having to track seltzer as half of water...I don't know what the reasoning behind that would be but I track seltzer water as water.

I don't track my water, but I drink a *kitten* ton of seltzer water and consider it "water."

They used to say anything with carbonation was not considered water intake. Over the past few years they have learned this is not true. It is nice to see the change. I drink seltzer and have always tracked it as water and it has never affected my weight loss negatively. I am not just talking about this present diet but pretty much on and off for years.

If you track water, seltzer water is water.

...why would you NOT track water? It's an enormous part of your health. If you're tracking food intake, you should be just as concerned with having a good amount of water in your daily life.

Because I find that my body does a great job of "tracking" it for me and my thirst prompts are sufficient for me to be well hydrated.

If my body was as effective at effortlessly tracking calories, I wouldn't log food either.

Why track what I don't have to?

If your body is hydrated, you can tell by the color of your urine and thirst. You get water from many foods as well as H2O and it all counts towards hydration

One can be adequately hydrated without actively tracking their liquid intake. Just like one can actually have a workout even if they don't post/share it on Facebook/IG.

Does that burn extra calories? I might start doing that.

In other shocking news, it's also possible to get an adequate amount of sleep without using a sleep tracker.

Being hydrated is important...you can tell if you're hydrated by looking at the color of your urine. Water is great, but there are many beverages and food as well that keep you hydrated. The only reason I'd see it necessary to actually track water is if one was not inclined to drink many fluids. Not an issue here..tracking water is pointless for me.

Yeah, even when I've been places where I was working long hours in a hot dry climate and carrying heavy loads, the color test still worked just fine.

"As little as 2% loss of our bodies’ water content begins to cause the brain to lose alertness and the body to feel tired.

Drinking water is one of those simple daily routines that we forget about too often. And while most recommendations focus on how much water we need to drink, not enough is said about how often you should be sipping on your water. The frequency and even distribution of your water intake during the day is actually the key to preventing dehydration. "

So yeah. Even though the pee test is ....great and all, it doesn't keep me on track for an even distribution of water. I honestly don't see what all the sass was for on WHY I'm tracking water. But hey - just a good reminder that idiots troll all types of boards.

Okay, people have chosen a different method than you. Insults aren't really necessary in this case, are they? The world is big enough to contain those who log water intake and those who don't, I think.
