Would you join Weight Watchers not necessarily to follow their plan, but just for support and accountability?
Thanks

Personally, no - but I also don't find the whole support/accountability thing helps.
There are plenty of support groups here that are free and have a big focus on support/accountability if that's what you are after.0 -
No. Honestly I wouldn't.0
-
I would sign up for some yoga classes instead.2

I find support here from my accountability friends.0

Listing to the other members telling stories about eating huge amounts of the zero point foods and expecting to lose would annoy me to no end.6
-
Nope. I tried it but only because someone else paid for my membership to try and convert me and it was honestly the biggest waste of money ever. They're geared towards selling temporary fixes as this ensures repeat business.
- Join WW and use their gimmicky methods and overpriced food while learning nothing.
- Lose some weight
- Stop using the gimmicky method and overpriced food
- Gain weight back (as you didn't learn anything except using the gimmick)
- Say "Oh I need to lose weight and WW worked last time! I'm joining WW"
- repeat
It's a vicious cycle. I've seen people in my family who have been going to weight watchers for the past 40 years. When I ask them why they always say 'Oh, because it works. I lost 15kg last time'. Well if it works why have you been going for 4 decades?
And the meetings were the worst (for me anyway). A bunch of people all regurgitating the same diet industry nonsense that's been peddled for the last 50 years. Particularly the bad/fatty food vs good/skinny food stuff. Either everyone at the meeting was lying through their teeth (I think they were) or no one EVER ate deserts, treats, sweets or anything "fatty", only ever ate salads, boiled chicken breast and rice cakes.
Yeah. So in case I vague. Not a fan9 -
no.
I am accountable only to myself.0 -
I would not.
In the past when I have joined groups or challenges i did not find it helped me.
What has helped me is making my plan as sustainable and easy to stick to as possible.
If I need support it is available for free.0 -
No. What do you hope to get from WW?
You have access to adding like minded friends with the same goals/using the same tools and you have 24/7 access to the forums right here.0 -
Thanks everyone!
