Is imputting the food via mfp not enough by the barcode if it’s the correct weight?

Eating less is important for weightloss. Making sure it's the right food and the right amount, ensures you're eating less for real.

Because many people underestimate how much they eat and packages can be off up to 20% in what they say is in there

I cooked two packets of food last night one was 120g and the other 180g, they weren't sold by weight but I'm guessing the bar code would have been for 150g

It's not that it is important to weigh food, it's that it is important to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight.

If you've chosen counting calories as your way to reach a deficit, then understanding how much you're eating is important. This is where a scale is very helpful for many people. Humans typically are terrible at eyeballing or estimating portion size, measuring cups can be inaccurate for solid foods, and packaged food can often have variances between what is listed on the label and how much is actually in the package. A scale helps someone account for all these factors.
