Goal 195
My dairy is public... I did my first 10k steps today. I’m a vegetarian so a lot of veggies and fruits for me. Losing at a much slower pace... previously I’ve done low carb & weight drops much much quicker. How can someone check to see what diet/lifestyle is best for their body?

The first bit of advice I would give is weigh your foods, don't use cup measurements as they're not accurate.
As for which diet/lifestyle is best for you, everyone's different so don't assume what's good for some people would be good for you. Eat a balanced diet of foods you love and listen to your body. I know for example if I eat too many carbs from bread, pasta etc it makes me sluggish, but if my carbs are from fruit, veg, nuts, seeds etc they have the opposite effect. It's down to trial and error really, working out what works best for you.

But that was water weight, not fat. You lose weight at the rate determined by your calorie deficit. If you want to make sure you're in the right calorie deficit, you have to log your food intake accurately, and as mentioned, a food scale is necessary for that.

As already said, you have to pay attention to what your body tells you. It can be hard to hear if you've ignored the signals for a long time, but it tells you - when you're eating a good diet, you feel happy, energized and satisfied, and it's quite easy to stick to the right amount of calories.

This ^^^. But sometimes it's helpful to point out that it is actually fat loss rate that is determined by your deficit, not actually weight loss. It's easy to interchange the terms. Over the long haul, weight loss generally equates to fat loss - but not always in the short term. Low carb does not drop your fat much quicker - it drops water early because of glycogen depletion. That's part of the allure of the low carb or keto diet. It appears like it gives better early results. It really does not.

I realize my reply deals with semantics, but it's sometimes easy to forget that our real goal is fat loss....right?

eat what you always have, but get a food scale and weigh and log your portions.

ive lost 100 pounds and eat the same type of food i always have (ive always generally eaten 'healthy' foods - just a lot of it LOL). So whatever it is youve always eaten, just learn to control the portion sizes and calrie counts. This makes for a sustainable way of eating, so when you have lost weight, and eventually reach your goal weight, you can MAINTAIN that loss. Dont label foods 'good or bad'. you can have what you want (yes, including junk food) but its all about portion control and burning more calories than you consume.

See a true Nutritionist, check with your insurance to make sure it's covered, also check with nutritionist on diagnosis codes, I called my insurance after I was given the codes and as long as they were a certain way it was paid and I didn't even have to pay a co-pay to my surprise. I am learning a lot.

I think I still eat to much but hopefully my choices are better.
I actually found out that I drank to much fluid (H2O & icetea) I was put on a fluid restriction at first I was not happy actually I can't do that little amount of fluid but I have cut back and have to work hard not drinking.

You might no realize as she told me that it's like I'm grazing. When I thought about how often I was eating I was like your right.

Go see a professional. Hope this helps. :)
