I do it!! Sunday is family day in my house. I eat at maintance or even a bit above, but I bank some calories through the week. A burger and fries are ok once and awhile. Just don't slip into a daily thing.
Are you ok on Mondays? Are you losing?1 -
Yes Monday’s are fine, every day of the week is fine! And I haven’t weighed myself in the morning yet as this is supposed to be the most accurate weight isn’t it??
2 -
I do my weigh-in 1st thing in the morning. Usually, on Monday I gain up to 3 pounds, but it is just water weight from the salt and it comes off by Wednesday and I am losing again.
I don't think it really matters when you weigh yourself as long as you do it at the same time each time you weigh0 -
fit burger and chips into your weekly calories/macros?
i tend to save around 200 cals each day monday to thursday to have a meal out over the weekend. plus i do the most exercise on the weekend so get extra calories that way too.4 -
Having burgers and chips isn't binging.
If you mean wanting to 'cheat' on week ends, it means your plan isn't going to work long term, you shouldn't feel deprived enough that you need to 'cheat'... There's no reason why you can't have a burger and fries as long as it fits your calories (if it doesn't, I suggest being more active). That being said, pick a 1/4 lb patty instead of 1/3 lb, and have a small serving of fries (unless you have the calories for more, obviously). You don't have to restrict yourself to boring foods to lose weight, and for what it's worth, you can make pretty good burgers with leaner patties and homemade fries too (and it's typically half the calories if you're using less oil).
If it's more that you don't want to bother cooking (I SO relate), unless you really crave something specific, try to pick a lower calorie option. I try never to 'waste' calories on something unless I really want it (and not just because it's there).5 -
Are you logging your weekends? It's tempting to just not bother, to treat yourself to a little logging break, or because it's not straightforward to know the calories sometimes, but rather than trying to force yourself to not "cheat" just try logging what you do "cheat" and see what you see and how that feels. I think you'll find it has an effect.1

I would almost always have a decadent meal on Saturday nights (I hate the term "cheat meal"). But it was one meal, not a whole weekend of debauchery. Another way to get your swerve on is to order that big 'ol burger but cut it in half and take the other half off the plate ASAP or put it in a to-go box ASAP. Then you can cut down the calories and still get a nice burgery meal in! Mmmm...3

half a burger is not a meal unless you're 4 years old :noway:2 -

Uh, have you seen some of the burgers that are available out there? They are humongous and over 2,000 calories each! Yeah, I can get by on half a burger and some fries real easy...7 -

or just order the 1000 calorie burger instead?1 -
But I don't want the 1,000 calorie one! I want the one with the deep fried mac n' cheese and onion rings and extra gooey yummy goodness! I worked hard all week and I want what I want when I want it!14

To be fair, it depends on the burger. But yes, the 'box half to eat later' advice pops up a lot but half a meal never satisfies me (unless it's huge portions like the Cheesecake Factory or something).0 -

my thoughts exactly!0 -
I save a few calories every day to offer me flexibility on going out to eat occasionally. My advice is track everything as accurately as you can even if you go over your calorie goal. That way you can view the weekly nutrition info to determine if you are still meeting your overall calorie and nutritional goals.0

I can't box half a burger, either. I'm a member of the clean your plate club, and I want to eat all the food!
I loosely plan my weekend meals, and sometimes will skip lunch or breakfast altogether to save room in my calories for an indulgent meal. Some people bank calories all week to use on the weekends for a big meal. Sometimes you just have to push the table away and say, "No more jello for me mom!" and understand that winning at weight loss means sacrificing onion ring mac and cheese burgers as a regular part of your diet. (Don't confuse this with me saying that not ever having one is wrong, because I love nothing more than plowing an onion ring mac and cheese burger, it's just a rare occasion--not a weekend occurrence).4 -

Ya, I make 4 oz burgers at home and when eating out half a 1100 calorie burger plus a few fries and coleslaw is plenty for me.0 -
maybe it's cause i'm in Wisconsin but we have burgers the size of your head. small plate sized with different add on is extremely common so half a burger will be perfectly filling
i'm with @briscogun
i usually do that with pasta dishes too.
edit: great, now i want a burger4 -
Literally! I need some tips on how to not just say ‘*kitten* it, let’s go for burger and chips’!!!
Does meal prepping help?
I wouldn't really consider a burger and chips "binging"...that said, my wife and I limit how much we eat out, so when we do go out, we just enjoy it. I love a good burger and grill out at home most weekends...I make a mean burger, and I can control what goes on it in what quantities as well as the fat content of the ground beef. I can also enjoy a couple of beers on the patio, having saved some calories just cooking at home.2 -

Another advantage to eating on the patio at home is that you can control the music playlist too
We're saving a lot of money on eating out since we redid the backyard.1 -
I don't eat breakfast on the weekend to allow for some eating out. I sleep in a bit more than weekdays so brunch and dinner on weekends works pretty well.2
-
For the really calorific burgers there's always the lettuce wrap instead of bun option. It can knock a 2000 calorie meal down to 1500 calories (depending on the bun of course) and make it easier to fit into your weekly calorie goal.
Note this can be a very messy option though...4 -

This. My husband and I often share the burger. It's a cheap date night and I didn't really want the entire thing anyway. Plus if you share, you can get the one with all of the goodies in it and not really worry about it.
A "whole weekend of debauchery" though... way more mischief than a burger!!3 -

Why are weekends different for you? Lack of routine and planning? Or are you too restrictive during the week?
Are you feeling out of control?
Plan meals on the weekend. Prelog your food for the day. Stick to a routine more.
You could plan to eat a burger if you like burgers. There is nothing wrong with eating that kind of food. Rethink if you are being too restrictive in your diet.
Eat a lower calorie version of the foods you want.
Smaller portions of higher calorie foods paired with lower calorie foods (burger with a salad instead of chips)
Bank some extra calories for the weekend if you know you'd like to eat or drink more. Stay active to increase your calorie goal.
Have a maintenance calorie day once a week.0 -

We do this most weekends too. No breakfast...brunch late morning and dinner.1 -
Saturday morning, prepare something in a slow cooker. That will sort of tie you into supper (although you could just ignore it and still get burger - but that is unlikely). Sunday you can have leftovers, if you want.3
-
I've found if I stick to my "plan" (MFP calorie goal) 6 days a week, I'm good. I don't go NUTS on Saturdays but I do dine out and have more treats that day.
For awhile I was letting it slide and become a Friday evening through Sunday indulgence. That's when I put on a few pounds. I try to really stick to my goals on Fri and Sun and let Saturday be my wild card.0 -

See? I'm in WI too! Burgers here are offensively HUGE!2 -

While I agree with this....that’s not a burger, it’s a composed salad lol. I feel like when people say...I want to “cheat” on a pizza so I made a low carb tortilla pizza....that’s not cheating lol that’s a poverty macro pizza!5 -
I wait tables on Saturday and because I burn so many calories more than during the week, I choose Saturdays for my indulgences. Usually just Starbucks and a taco but I work at the onion ring mac n cheese burger place so....sometimes I eat half a burger.0
-
where i live..they're serving 6 ounce burgers for $12...they taste great..but small enough to justify the splurge. Stay away from the monster burgers ...a fading fade.0
