How to Celebrate Reaching Goals

Here's the deal...I turn 30 (ARRRRRRGGGGGGHHH) on 29th September and am going to make that my target date. Well my plan is to get a big tattoo on my side/back of a modern arty/pop art butterfly piece (quest is still on to find the perfect one) to celebrate readhing my goal weight. Now however, since I only have 3lbs left to go, I'm debating dropping my target to 137lbs instead of 140lbs. I'm 5'7" and to be honest I can't really see a lot of difference in my appearence. What do you think is 137lbs too small for someone my height?

Don't worry about how we feel. Find a weight that looks and feels good to you. If you lose too much and don't like it, you can always go back up a bit (keeping fitness in mind).
Congrats on your success and happy birthday!0 -
Most important is how you feel physically. If you have energy and are excited about how you look, dont sweat what size is "normal"0

My thoughts.
How about doing a temporary tattoo until you are able to maintain that weight for about 6 months? Give yourself a different reward! But do share a picture of your tattoo on this site. I think that would be a great testimony and statement of accomplishment.0 -
I think 137 is a good goal. If you don't feel comfortable going down anymore though you can lose fat and build muscle and stay at 140. Good luck!0

Thanks guys. Your comments are really encouraging. I think I will amend my goal to 137 and hope to hit it by my birthday. Then role on massive tattoo to celebrate. My idea behind the tattoo being to remind me how hard I worked to get to the point to get it done and that by letting myself go I will not only spoil my good work but also damage the tattoo ha ha.
I did get a small Goonies skull and cross swords on my wrist when I hit the halfway mark to remind myself to keep pushig, because "Gonies never say die!" right. It's been a fantastic motivator in all areas of my life since I got it0 -
when you're nearing the end of your journey, and you're close to your 'goal weight', focus on being satisfied with what your body looks like. i'm 5'9", currently 151lbs.. by goal is 140, but i still feel like i have a gut. i'm focusing on flattening my tummy now, and paying less attention to the scale.0

congrats on getting so close and don't fear the 30! lol It's not so bad (I'm at the very end of that scale heading to the big 40. lol I dreaded 30 much more than I do 40.. which is strange! lol
If you adjust your goal, try not to feel you 'fail' if you don't quite reach the new goal.. keep in mind your old goal was the true goal and when that's achieved anything else is a bonus! lol lets face it every lb lost is a triumph!!
I love your goonie tattoo idea. I booked a tattoo for my wedding anniversary but was breast feeding and the wouldn't do it.. now I haven't got the cash. This is in mind for the next year.. so maybe a goal tattoo would be a good idea for me too! lol
good luck with the 6lb.0 -
I try not to focus on the scale too much and only weigh in once a week. My scales also tell me my muscle mass and body fat % so I take note of those too. I have dropped a dress size since I started my journey using MFP which has been fab!!
I just sat and worked out then what my average weight loss has been since I started. it worked out at 1.4lbs per week. That means if I carry on with my average weight loss, in the 7 weeks until my birthday I could technically hit the 133lbs although I will definately be happy with anywhere between that and 140lbs. So there is no option of a fail because I've come so far as it is.
I already do a lot of intense strength training and love the fact that I can now feel the muscle underneath the ever thinning layers of fat ha ha
All that's left now is to get searching for that tattoo. Anyone know any good art of butterflies that's different?0
