I just did a 5 min test with my polar HRM and it came out as 43 beats per minute.

What's yours?

Lower is better, right?

  • holy cow, 43 is great! you have the heart of an athlete. :flowerforyou:

Mine is in the low 70's, but only a month ago it was in the mid-high 80's. Now that I've been pretty regular with the cardio, it is starting to drop.

now Im curious what mine is. So what do I just go and lay down with my HRM on? Aww man I cant do that now anyway will have to wait until tomorrow after I burn my calories because i reset my HRM at the end of the week. So I will test it out sometime tomorrow.

Mine is 60. I did it with a stopwatch and my fingers for a full minute.

    Mine is 54.
  • I did it first thing in the morning. I read somewhere it's best to do it in the morning and before you have eaten anything. Not sure why that is.

I tested the RHR today to see if it is different after heavy exercise. I have tested 1st thing in the morning and it was round 60.

Today I walked 40 minutes in sand, surf....up and down the mini-dunes with my HR staying in the 140' and spiking to 175. That is 85-102% of my max heart rate.
I did it in intervals to see what my HR did for the next 2 hours I was at the beach.

It never got below 84 and that was me lying prone, headphones on, not moving a muscle (cept my heart of course!) for 15 minutes. If not then just lying there was 90-100 and when I swam, it shot right back up to 120-130....usually I have a hard time getting it that high with a swim.

So my little experiment wasnt scientific or anything, but it tells me your heart continues to burn more calories for hours after a good interval training session.

What I took away from this for myself is.....I am not eating enough calories, and need to really keep my eye on fueling this ol machine.

The lowest I have ever tested mine it was 38, first thing in the morning before I got out of bed. I wish I had an HRM when I was in the Army, I was much more fit then.

Right now I would expect it to test in the 50's, but I haven't tested it in a while. I pretty much only watch it when I am kicking the training up to make sure I am not over training. During a base phase, like in winter, I don't bother...

    54 resting

I do a 10 second test x 6...it's normally the way I do it while working out in the water to make sure I stay in my HR zone and don't go too high over it but am working hard enough to be aerobic. Much easier for me to do it that way:wink: ...I lose track if I'm doing it for 60 seconds:blushing: (well especially while in workout mode)

It's come way way down from when I was much heavier, I think it was in the 80's then.
    FC:heart:
