I'm new to this app. I've been going through a difficult time where I've been restricting calories and everytime I gain weight I cry. I know what I'm doing is unhealthy. I want to talk to others who are going through a similar experience for support.

To lose weight, you have to restrict calories. Your weight naturally fluctuates from day to day. Have you been starving and bingeing?

Yes I have been starving and bringing but I would not classify myself as anorexic or as an eating disorder.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. The good thing is that MFP can be a great tool to heal your relationship with food - it did for me. If you enter your stats correctly and pick a modest calorie deficit (or maintenance), you get a good calorie target that you're supposed to hit. You can log in advace the food you intend to eat, to get a better picture of your whole day, nutritionally. Being mindful of what you put into your body, can help you with body image issues, and make you want to take care of yourself, in a kind and respectful way.

Thank you so much for your advice. I really appreciate what said. I think that by being on MFP will help me heal and be healthy once again.

I don’t do starving, but I am guilty of binging. I hear you on wanting to cry every time you put weight on. I’m down 2 pants sizes and think I look awesome in a lot of my shirts especially since having surgery, however, since the surgery 2 months ago, I have put on 8 lbs. I have been trying to eat healthy. I admit that I don’t exercise enough although I usually walk the 6 blocks to and from work. I work 5 days a week at the middle/high school.

Get a food scale if you dont already have one, and weigh everything. Read all the stickied posts in the Getting Started threads. Youll find great ideas from some really awesome people. Good luck! You can do this.
