I signed up for Healthy wage a few days ago. I waged 25$ a month and that I would lose 50 pounds in six months. I wanted to start off low. I think its good to have a hard goal. However, my friends are worried that if I happen to hit a plateau that it will create frustration for me and could cause me to become unmotivated and mess up or quit all together. I think just the opposite. Any personal opinions of this or suggestions.

I needed a year to lose 50 pounds. What's your height and current weight?1

5'6 and 294...I weighed 400+ a year and 4 months ago. I lost 26 pounds in a month and half at this moment so its doable for me but some of my friends said I am due for a plateau..0

personally I think its a terrible idea ... based purely on my own reactions to it ... for instance if I got ill for a couple of weeks and couldnt workout ... what would I do ? .... well I would workout anyway so I reach my goal, despite the risk of injury. What if with 1 month to go I realised I wasnt going to make it ? ... what would I do ? .... probably drop my calorie intake to 900kcal a day to ensure I hit target ... doing myself damage
having a goal date is risky business as it creats a very large possibility for you to do extreme things to reach that date ... have money attached to it, well that for me is a big bag of eating disorder right there !
with weightloss its a far better idea to just set a weekly hope of say 0.5lb-2lb a week and go with the flow, let there be holidays, let there be the odd wedding and party and let the weight come off as it will

Actually a very valid point. But I personally would not allow that to happen to me. I have worked too hard already and I know that too less calories is as bad as too many calories but I agree that the right kind of person could develop a eating disorder with this kind of system.0
