I may not be there yet … but I’m optimistic

So here we are … Day 49. It crept up on me and I didn’t even notice that I have stuck with a healthier lifestyle for almost 50 days. I am fairly sure that’s a first. Yay me!

I weigh-in in two days and think that I might actually hit the 1/10th of-the-way point to being barely “normal weight” for my height. Ok… well, that didn’t sound as exciting as it did in my head.

But still, 48 days ago I was nowhere and 27 days ago I was 1/20th of-the-way there. So, 1/10th is pretty cool. And I’ve gone from almost never walking for exercise to walking 17 miles this month, and it’s only the 13th of August. This is especially thrilling because I tripped and fell hard on my knees on the 8th of August. Where in the past I would have succumbed to self-pity for a little pain and given myself excuses to sit around, I still managed to get up and go for a walk most days this week.

So while the progress I’ve made is imperceptible to the eye, I’m feeling pretty good, and better yet, optimistic. To quote an anonymous author (I wish I knew who), “I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.”
