Tired..exercise?

I'm not sure what is going on with me today. I went to bed early, had 9 hrs of sleep and had the hardest time getting up this morning. I have been dragging *kitten* all day....and starving. I'm usually not this hungry during the day. Do I exercise through this feeling of general tiredness and starvation or do I rest and hope I feel better tomorrow? I'll beat myself up either way lol.

Hard to say, but usually I exercise and usually snap out of it. If I didn’t feel better after a workout I’d figure I was sick. It’s s good question, as I occasionally feel “off” but almost always choose to try exercising, rather than not.1

If I am hungry I eat. Sometimes that means going over calories. My go to is an apple with a spoonful of peanut butter so that I get fiber and carbs from fruit and protein and fat from the peanut butter.0

I rarely feel really enthusiastic before exercising - I’d usually rather stay in bed than do parkrun on a Saturday morning. But guilt and habit get me up and out even when I have 0 energy. On those days I take it easy but still get out there. I always feel 100% better afterwards and have way more energy.
Pain is different though - never force through that.1 -
Do you take rest days? They're kind of important.1

Some of my best workouts have been on days when I felt super sluggish. Afterwards, I felt much better. I think putting on your workout gear and getting started with something is a good idea. You may find you're feeling better after just a few minutes. If not, you can always decide to rest and go at it again tomorrow. I don't think it's something to beat yourself up over. Exercise is taking care of yourself and so is getting the rest you need.
As for hungry days, I don't have them often but when I do, I allow myself to eat up to maintenance. I follow a weekly calorie goal so I can balance it out over the week but even before I did that, I just hit maintenance and let it go. No damage done.3 -
If you're tired, rest.
If you're sleepy, sleep.
If you're hungry, eat.
What's the problem?
There's only a problem if:
You start using feeling "tired" as an excuse for not exercising.
You stay up late and never get a full 7-8 hrs sleep.
Or, if you eat more than your diet plan allows.
If none, of the latter, just take a day or 2 off. The world will not end.

maybe start the exercise? if you don't feel up to it in 15 min, go rest.
idk your gender, but hormones make me starving. i'm avoiding the vending machine today because i want to buy all of it0 -
Some days you may need to eat at maintenance. It happens.
Sometimes, you may need more sleep. As an example, I was recently promoted and my work load the past few weeks has DRAMATICALLY increased, along with a lot more responsibility. I have been more tired than normal, but I'm mostly attributing it to the mental overload at work as I adjust. Yes, my workouts have suffered a bit, but I need the sleep, too. I still make more workouts than not, and I know that getting up will be less of a struggle once things become more routine at work. Right now a lot of it is "new," so there's more effort to accomplish it.
Finally, do you take a rest day? Maybe plan a lighter workout instead of your usual? Might be the break you need...0 -

This is my suggestion as well. I rarely want to exercise, but once I start, I'm fine.
@kschwab0203 how much weight are you losing per week? I'm wondering if you are losing too fast due to undereating.
Also, could this be related to your menstrual cycle? I eat at maintenance for a few days when my appetite spikes premenstrually.1 -
I bit the bullet and got on the damn bike and finished the workout. I also ate back all of my exercise calories, something I never do, but I was just so hungry yesterday. Maybe I just had an off day, maybe it had something to do with hormones, ask my mother and she'll say it has something to do with high blood sugar. At any rate, I will be keeping and eye out to see if this happens again.
Thanks for all the feedback!1
