Low Cardio?

Argh... I already see a big problem from reading here. I cant have high cardio workouts, 2 heart attacks (a medical condition, not diet/health related) already in my life, don't want any more.

My body is pretty forgiving, but I don't push my heart. When I work out I rarely raise my heartbeat enough to be an issue, even if working hard, since I'm mostly using weights. I do a bit of bike or treadmill, but watch the heartrate to keep it low enough and stop when needed to keep it safe.

So, am I going to struggle because of this? I'm already jealous of the dog, he gets to eat all day long... I don't want to be jealous of him forever.

You are over thinking the cardio. I started off walking 30 minutes 5 times a week and lost 3 pounds the first week just by watching my calories.

I am still walking, but now it is vigorous walking. Just carrying all my fat is a work out and walking makes me sweat. Funny thing is... I am walking on an inside track with air conditioning blowing on me and sweat is rolling off me because I am fat. O well, It took me years to put on this weight and it is going to take time to take it off.

Start easy and do not look at the total amount of weight you want to loose. I set goals of 5 pounds instead of 40 plus!

I also do not have scales at home and have to weigh at work but I am not going to weigh for another 2 weeks. I threw them out years ago because they depressed me.

You can do this. I will cheer you on and help you in anyway. Do beat yourself up when you are just starting

my trainer encouraged me to let go of the eliptical and focus on weights......... So i would say don't worry about cardio and just do what you can and you will get there!!

you got it! i hear that building muscle is key because that increases metabolism. weights will do that. i also have low cardio workouts, so just stick with what you can do comfortably, and your body will respond positively :-)
