New to Keto

Hi everyone! My name is Cheri and I’m 28 years old. I’m starting the keto diet this week and I’m a bit nervous about going for it. Never stuck to a diet in my life so it’s going to be difficult. After four kids I’m ready for the challenge. I’m still reading up on keto and I have my numbers calculated. Just lost on where to start ... looking for friends!

To lose weight, you just have to take in fewer calories than you burn. That means "eat less, move more". It's that simple. But it isn't necessarily easy, because you have to do it for real, consistently, and for a long time. To make it easier, eat and move in a way you like and find practical. To make it harder, do the opposite.

Hi, Cheri! Best of luck entering and staying in Ketosis! I'm just starting out also, trying to make it fit into my lifestyle slowly so I know I'lI to stick with it long term. I have~80-100lb. to lose according to my BMI and a family history rife with diabetes and heart disease. I've been on MFP for a few years now and made it work for a while (lost ~50lb) but I gained back nearly every pound lost when house hunting/ wedding planning/ renovating (a stressful two years). It worked for me then, but I can't do what I did before and went looking for a new method. I suggest reading The Obesity Code (even if you don't have too much to lose) because it gives you all the information you need about your body to know what you're doing, not hurt yourself on any diet/exercise regimen and maintain weight loss for life.

Join the Low Carber Daily MFP groups for more support and info. The LCD group has a great launch pad stickie for newbies.

Don't forget to increase sodium to about two teaspoons of salt a day (3000-5000mg) to replace lost electrolytes once you lose water weight.

    Good luck!
