Hi there everyone! I have a BIG SECRET MOTIVATION but I simply HAVE to lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks!!
How do I do it?
I REALLY can't seem to lose weight...and have no self control!
TIPS please?
xxx
My 10 "HEALTHY SIX WEEKS" RESOLUTIONS:
1. Alcohol on 2 nights maximum per week. 4 drinks maximum when out.
2. Sleep for 8 hours per night 6 nights per week.
3. Up water intake to minimum 2litres per day (do at work, then drinking at home = bonus)
4. No eating after 9pm. Brush teeth straight after dinner so its not an issue.
5. 1 coffee per day maximum. No cups of tea after 3pm.
6. Americano rather than Cappucino
7. No sugar in coffee, no sugar on oatmeal
8. No cheese (cheddar/cream/cottage/swiss)
9. Whole foods only (no snack bars, chips, cakes, sweets, biscuits)
10. Exercise 5 days per week minimum. Stretch after each session so no pain.

Because you dont have much to lose - your target is a pretty big ask - that time of weight loss is normally seen by people with a lot less to lose..... unfortunately 1/2 pound per week is much more realistic ....
If you are serious about losing as much as possible I would adjust number one to no alcohol for 6 weeks....
Good luck - keep on doing it the healthy way!!0 -
Really! 1/2 a pound only per week?!
But with progress like that how do you ever keep yourself motivated...that's like 250g?! You can fluctuate half a pound per day just in body weight so you'd never know if you were actually moving in the right direction!
What do you think?
Thanks for the comment tho!0 -
You don't have to do half a pound a week.
Eat 1200 cals a day for two weeks (and eat back your exercise cals!) and you could lose 6/7lb if you haven't dieted for a while. After the two weeks up the calories slightly to about 1300-1400 a day (plus exercise cals) and you will prob lose another 0.5 - 1lb a week.
You may not lose the full 10lb in 6 weeks but you could easily lose 8 if you stick to it religiously and do 5 days a week exercise.0 -
Yep - that is the reality unfortunately - most people successfull people on here does it slow and steady...... you can have bigger losses - but those are normally people (like myself when I started) that have 150lbs etc to loose.....
How do you keep yourself motivated? I suppose the question is how bad do you want it - for me I want it bad enough, so you just keep being as good as you can be - while still making sure to fuel your body properly - and the results at the end is the reward.......
You are absolutely right about fluctuations - this is a blog I wrote last week to show exactly how the scale can fluctuate from day to day..... remember - I still have around 50 lbs to lose - so I am getting bigger numbers each week....

I agree, if you want to come close to meeting your target then no alcohol is the way to go I'm afraid. I love a drink so it is hard but it'll be worth it!
As for cutting out the cheese, cottage cheese is good for you and is full of protein which is good after a workout.0 -
I've heard that the quickest way to lose weight is to completely cut dairy from your diet for 6 weeks0

If I havent dieted for a while?
I've been dieting every day for 7 years. And I'm still nowhere near where I want to be...0 -

If you're that desperate then I suggest:
1. No alcohol. Waters and unsweetened tea only. Four drinks twice a week is a lot of extra pointless calories.
2. Yes, but every night.
3. Yes.
4. Just no eating after dinner is fine, all this common myth does is stop late-night snacking.
5. WHY? That's ridiculous. You can drink as much unsweetened tea as you like, especially if it's low caffeine.
6. Yes
7. Yes (try sweetener in the short term if you get desperate)
8. Yes but generally limit all dairy.
9. Fine but really weight loss is about calories, not nutritional content - it's great to eat healthy but don't kid yourself that will make you lose weight unless you are also consuming fewer calories.
10. Yes, but be careful if you're not used to it.
All you actually need to do is
1. figure out how many calories you need to limit yourself by to drop 10lbs (approx. 35,000 - 3,500 per lb).
2. Divide by weeks (5,833) and that's how many calories you need to go under your maintenance by per week
3. In your case that would be 833 per day.
3. In your position I would eat at a deficit of 500 and exercise 333 per day.
Technically that should do it, although everyone is different. Also WATCH YOUR SODIUM! You might be holding a lot of water weight if you aren't careful about sodium levels.0 -

That's been my average loss over the past 8 months...
I want to lose it slowly because I think it will have more chance of staying off.
I fluctuate more than 1/2 lb in water weight whatever each day, but over a long period of time I know that I'm 16lbs lighter than when I started.
I think upping your fruit & veg will help- sorry if you eat loads, they weren't mentioned in your diet plan!0 -
The honestly what are the chances you'll drop 10lb in 6 weeks? Is there a medical reason or do you just not have the willpower?I've been dieting every day for 7 years. And I'm still nowhere near where I want to be...0 -

It can be done.
Change the way you talk to yourself. (I can't lose wt) rather say I can lose weight.
Your 1st order of business is to clean out you house of the foods that are not on your program. (if this can be done)
start by making a plan of what you eat & drink.
Write it down. This takes some practices but it realy pays off. Write everything. Even the foods that are off your program.
after a few days look over your logs and you might see a pattern that is not letting you lose the wt.
Make your mind up today that your going to think of this as a way of life. Lean for Life.
good luck.0 -

My BMR is 1400 cal, so to eat under I'm trying for 900 cal per day...man I'm not sure I can do that?! That's not much to function on for a whole day of work and workout?!0 -

Yeah. Take a hint and don't try and lose that much that fast then. Numbers aren't opinions, and if you can't stick with them then obviously you wont lose the weight. There is no other way of doing it.My BMR is 1400 cal, so to eat under I'm trying for 900 cal per day...man I'm not sure I can do that?! wait, im an idiot. that's my BMR...my maintenance is 1740. ok so eating under that = 1200. and then exercise 300 per day and then im sweet.0
