Hello,
Male, 5’8 and currently 144lbs
About 1 month ago I was maintaining a weight of 140lbs, and then I started weight training. Now I’m at 144lbs but I’ve continued to eat daily target calories and most time eat under the target calories. Puzzled with the 4lb weight gain? I’m a missing something?

Could be water. I notice when training hard I pop less often. Could be that too0

I understand the concern about a 4 lb. gain. However, from what I've read, weight training results in more muscle mass, which is wonderful. Muscle weighs more then flab, so it's probably a good thing.8

Do you feel that the weight training has started to build up some muscle tissue? If so, that is terrific. But keep watching the weight trend line. Nice to see how well you are doing.1

I agree with richandmarieb, it is probably muscle. I wouldn't worry too much. At this point, just make sure that you are getting enough calories to support that muscle growth.1
