Muscles or no muscles?
So I showed my BF pics of girls that are all flat abs and like 6packs and defined muscles on arms and legs. And he said that he doesn't really like that. And none of hi friends do either.
I was thinking that he would love it. But um I guess not. I am thinking if I should do the Jillian Michaels 6pack video or not. Advices on how did it work for you?

I'm a PT, and I'm not a big fan of 6-pack abs on the ladies. I don't want one myself! I like the idea of having a strong core and some definition, but not the six pack. It's not for me. I talked to my husband about it and he feels the same way as your BF.
However, if having a 6 pack is your goal, set out to achieve it. If that's what YOU want, do it. Build the body you want, not the one somebody else wants!
Good luck!0 -
I say you need to decide if you want them. While I understand wanting to 'please' your bf (I have a husband, I totally get it) if you go into it trying to be something or look like something for another person you may end up disapointed or lose motivation. If you start a program/DVD/whatever wanting to be the healthiest and best person for you then you will have more success. Good luck to you whatever you decide.0

I think you should cross that bridge when you get there.
Not many people are able to look like those women ever and fewer still can sustain it for any meaningful period.
Its great that you are working out and eating right and watching your appearence.
Best of luck to you.0 -

For me there's a limit. I like a woman that has muscle tone, especially legs and butt (very sexy) but I don't care for female bodybuilder type builds.
I don't believe that video will get your muslces big or anything. One, you have to take in a large excess of calories to put on muscle mass and that type of work wouldn't build you up much anyway.
Remember if you want visibly defined muscles that most of that will come from diet and not just exercise.0 -
Most men don't like defined mucles on women, toned is beautiful, but muscular is most commonly a turn off. If you want to do the work out, then do it, if you want to develop the muscles, without becoming muscular then don't forget to eat more to compensate for the ammount of calories and water muscle uses.0

That video is hard! It's a great work out video. I stopes doing it because of the heat but you might like it. All of her work outs are great! And yea not a lot of guys like girls with flat tummies and six packs. And I heard it's harder for girls to get a six pack.0

I think he probably doesn't like the look of very cut women. If I have learned anything from my boyfriend it's that a sexy stomach is all about the flatness of it and the obliques. I know my boy wouldn't like a six pack.. but definition in the obliques looks womanly and sexy.
Go ahead and do the exercises. They strengthen your back too (which is very important) and it is really really hard to get a six pack so I wouldn't even worry about it. You need to be at a very low BFP in order to even have to option of seeing a six pack.
Good luck! I use P90X for abs.0 -
I think the girls on Oxygen mag look great, but it totally grosses my Grandmother (81 y.o.) out. She won't even look at the magazines I have around the house where guys or girls are all muscly and veiny.0

I used to be very muscular. I did every kind of sport in high school plu 300 crunches a day.
So I get tones pretty easily. Especially in my legs and arms. I already can see some changes in my upper stomach. Jut from 30ds and and swimming a lot.
I will try the 6pack but if I start to see too much weirdness going on I will stop.
Tha ks guys0 -
i don't think just doing the 6w6p will give you the "cut" look like that. It is intense cardio with the focus being on the core. It isn't like doing a billion crunches or using resistance training that I believe you would need to do to get that defined "6pack" look. Go ahead and do it! I'm into my 3rd week of it0

I also showed my boyfriend the pics of my "dream" physique...6 pack abs, killer biceps...he didn't like it either and he is a super fit and muscular guy....however, that is what I want so that is what I am going for. :0D0

The girls in Oxygen are hardly veiny....they're muscular yes, but they're curvy as well...they're tight and curvy..not fat and curvy or stick thin like every other magazine that claims to show us how we're "supposed" to look....0 -
I am not into a bodybuilder look,I like a lady to be soft and curvy.0

If you are asking whether or not you should do Jillian Michaels's workout video because you want to know if it's effective. I couldn't tell you, because I haven't tried it or known anyone who has. If you are asking if you should do the workout because you want to know if you should workout and get the type of body you're BF says he's not crazy about, then the answer is what do YOU want? Fitness should be something you do for yourself. It's your body. If you will be happier having 6 pack abs then go for it! (I'm sure your BF will love you either way) The same is true about any changes you make to your body or do for your health. You should want to eat healthier for YOU. If you want to lose wait, do it for YOU. If you do it for any other reason, it's hard to stay motivated no matter what it is. If has to be something YOU want!0

ps: women don't typically get "body builder" bodies unless they are taking some kind of supplements. Before I was married I could bench press well over my body weight. Squat even more, and curl half of it. I was strong, but I was thin, curvy, and sexy... oh and I still had C cups.0 -
Funny, you said this. I have a dude that is one of my BFs and he said that to me. He told me no man will want me with that many muscles. I was shocked he said it! B ut guess what I don't give a 'bleep'!!!! It is my body and I have goals and I want someone to like me for more then just how I look. If a man don't like it don't step to me. You do what you like. Nutrition and fitness are journeys so you may find later on what you do and don't like. Happiness to you on your journey!0

well.... ultimately you need to be happy with the body youre rocking. So if you like that look - shoot for it. JMs 6 week six pack wont give you a 6pack by the end of it if you arent near there now. There are MANY factors to getting a 6pack beside exercise. Mostly clean eating.
But... muscles arent my thing either. Im shooting for toned and curvy. Still soft where a woman should be. Seems to me most men prefer that too.0 -

this is to funny. I liked toned. to much muscle mass isn't as nice... why not just be happy with what you want to be? Your bf will have to deal.0

This! Ok, So I have a 6 pack, and my hubby (before) always said that it looks too masculine on a female. Flash forward to now..... he takes pic of me on the beach and shows them off. Do what makes YOU feel good.0 -
