Gastroparesis diet?

So last week I had an upper endoscopy because my GI doc thought I was suffering from GERD or an ulcer. Unfortunately the test showed that despite 12 hours of fasting there was still food in my stomach long after it should be digested. I’m having a gastric emptying scan tomorrow to determine a gastroparesis diagnosis because apparently food in your stomach 12 hours later is not normal. I’m losing up to 2 lbs a week I average only 900-1100 calories a day. I’m hungry then nauseous, super bloated and stomach pain daily. Right now I am on 40 me of omeprazole and mailox. I feel like I’m losing my mind. Any advice?

what advice did your doctor(s) give?

any high calorie food that you can tolerate to get your cals up would help? or liquid cals?

Right now I eat a lot of oatmeal, apple juice and gluten free whole grain bread with peanut butter. It’s almost all I can tolerate. I miss so many types of food. Doc says unfortunately it’s a lot of trial and error. Told me to make a food diary.

There are a few drugs but not many treatment options unfortunately. Eating small amounts several times a day, low diber amd low fat seem to help people. I'm mostly on a liquid diet atm but my gastric emptying is severely delayed (70% remaining at 4 hrs)

How long have you been taking the Omeprazole? This medicine decreases the amount of acid your stomach produces. Less acid means that your food isn't being properly digested. If there isn't enough acid to digest your food it will sit in your stomach longer until your body pushes it through. Undigested foods can lead to scores of other problems in your GI system. I can't tell you what to do, but I went ADA and weaned off of my GERD Medicine. I control my GERD through diet, and miraculously, once I started producing stomach acid again and my gastroparesis resolved itself.

ETA: Just providing my personal experience, I'm not a doctor and I don't pretend to play one on tv

Low stomach acid isn't the only cause or even the most common cause of gastroparesis unfortunately.

It’s only been 3 weeks on it. I really thought that all it was, was reflux maybe GERD. So they started me at 20mg then 40mg then endoscopy and today was gastric emptying scan. I hate eggs so that test was brutal.

I genuinely have no idea what is going on honestly. I just know it’s very painful and just miserable daily for me. I am not diabetic though. We know that for sure. I will get test results on GES on Tuesday.
